Seconds matter. Starting or delaying CPR on someone having a heart attack has a measurable impact on survival. Data reinforces what we know: survival depends on a system working together. 9-1-1 call takers play a critical role in the system. See our data: portland.gov/911/directors-r…

If you missed our first National Night Out event, here are some fun photos and an invitation to the next two Fridays' events on August 7th and 14th! Due to a heat advisory by the National Weather Service and unhealthy air quality from wildfire smoke, we've made the decision to cancel the National Night Out event on August 4 at Ed Benedict Park. More info on the other events: Portland.gov/NNO National Night Out is about more than meeting first responders—it's about building relationships, increasing transparency, and strengthening connections between community members and Portland's public safety systems. By consolidating City resources into these shared events, community members can engage with multiple public safety partners in a unified, accessible setting. All partnerships and participation are thoughtfully aligned to ensure the space remains welcoming, respectful, and rooted in the well-being of the community. @pdxfire @portlandpolice #Portland #CommunitySafety #NationalNightOut

Personal fireworks can lead to property damage, harm to pets, trauma for veterans and injuries to kids and adults. Don"t call 9-1-1 to report fireworks use. 9-1-1 must be kept clear for reporting active fires and other emergencies happening now. Report at portland.gov/fireworks
Fireworks are a Fourth of July tradition, but more fires are reported on this day than any other in the United States—nearly half caused by fireworks. Unfortunately, this tradition can lead to tragic consequences: property damage, harm to pets, trauma for war veterans, and injuries to children and adults, which can range from minor to severe. Fireworks usage and sales are banned in the City of Portland year-round. Please do not call 9-1-1 to report fireworks use. It is very important that our 9-1-1 system be kept for reporting only active fires and serious medical problems. Your cooperation with this will save lives. Visit the city’s website to report fireworks, and for a list of safety tips and alternatives to fireworks. Portland.gov/Fireworks #Portland #FireworksBan #FourthofJuly #IndependenceDay
