I wondered what online education looks like going forward. Seems like answers and examples are a prompt away. Explain how to do this or better yet, just do it. 🤷🏻♂️
🚨 Going out of business sale 🚨
iOS dev course sales plummeted due to AI. It costs a lot of money to host my courses online and with sales at basically $0, I've cancelled that hosting.
This closes down the site which unfortunately removes access to the courses.
I want you to have the courses you purchased forever, so I've added the ability to download my course videos so they are yours.
I've put my recent course on sale at a large discount so you can get it before it's gone and I've made old courses available for free if you want to grab those too.
The school will be online until November 24th so you have a few weeks to download these videos at seanallen.teachable.com
Thanks for learning with me and supporting my work over the years. I appreciate it.

Well, as you've probably noticed, there's a controversial discussion going on, and since controversy isn't something I shy away from, I'd like to chip in.
Specifically I would like to show example of using Ai acceleration to achieve YOUR vision while maintain absolute control over the result, hence this thread.
So here's a tool I've made, which I'll talk about a bit more in the comments.

New Unreal Engine 5 Beginner tutorial and how to start building games with AI!
Updated for UE5.8:

Most likely talking about ABC using AI & automation. Don’t understand the need for drama. No curtain being pulled. Plenty of places doing the same. Results vary & some places are having a hard time with legal clearance especially with public companies. Psychosis is strong here.

Can I just say how tired I am of these kinds of remarks? They're getting more and more common as the internet has become armchair experts on all software and businesses.
We build best in class software and make it available completly free. No one else in our category does that. No one. Don't want it? Dont use it.
Sentry will absolutely run just fine on 32gb of memory, but thats not even the point. Its complex. That complexity comes from nearly two decades of development. Some of it is avoidable, some of it isnt. This is why cloud services exist - because we can amoratize the cost and complexity vs spending every waking hour optimizing every small part of a system to run on random low powered VPS.
"Rewrite in Rust" - you don't maintain the software, nor do you undrestand what that means. An important chunk of Sentry is already in Rust (which could be C++ or Go!). The rest makes absolutely no sense to even suggest that. No one wants to work on a user facing web service with Rust, waiting on compile times non-stop. Nor do our customers.
They want a great product, and they want to keep seeing improvements to that product. Our time is spent making it actually better for our 100k customers, not optimizing for your single use case.
There is always opportunity for improvement, but takes like this are both ignorant and entitled.
At this point, if @sentry won’t rewrite their service in Rust, I will do it myself. I installed it on a 32 GB AWS instance, and it immediately used all the RAM. What?
Funny, I was thinking the same as I read it. I guess something refreshing in a sea of talking YouTube heads where every opinion has to be a video nowadays.
holy smokes it feels so good to read someones coherent thoughts and opinions. Blog posts are coming back
> the existence of many features is software come from culture, a system of shared beliefs and values.
> Once the person behind ArtCraft is done cloning all the apps 1:1, what's then? Are we all going to attend ArtCraft community meetups in big European cities every year and praise our lord and savior who used a chatbot to free us from Adobe?

I listened to the latest @syntaxfm podcast episode with @wesbos about the new Adobe clones and I have some thoughts

Everyone is mad at Adobe subscriptions but with the costs of hardware, we are one step away from hardware subscriptions. Remember when $3k was a high end machine? That doesn’t even buy you the gfx card now. Thats assuming you can even get one.

Epic has laid off almost all of their community and education and enterprise teams and we can all feel it. Curious what the road to UE6 will feel like.
Replying to @TimSweeneyEpic
That’s how it should be. While you guys are doing this is really important to double the outreach plans so you don’t blindside the community. Specially indie developers. Its already hard to compete with AAA. With AI that gap gets even bigger.
We need more epic trainings, courses, tutorials, industry collaborations, building along, real life events for real connections. Unreal Fest is awesome but we should have more, even if community driven but with Epic folks representation and a “seal of approval”

Character.AI said on Monday it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US and agreed to sell some of its assets to Walt Disney for $20 million. reuters.com/legal/litigation…
A while back I decided to slow down my time investment in UE. I feel the company is going to pull the rug from underneath everyone. It’s not about the AI. Just the overall way Epic is operating. But what do I know 🤷🏻♂️
BREAKING: Epic Games has delayed its unannounced Disney, $DIS, shooter, featuring Star Wars and Marvel characters, and ordered developers to switch to an AI-first production model, per Bloomberg.
“No more hand-written code,” one of the game’s directors told staff.
All art for the game will now be made with AI, with humans only guiding the work.
The mograph . net days and the time around it was the golden era of this industry. Don’t listen to people saying, “they were mean to me and my work”. We won’t get those days back. I for one am glad I was part of that history. Lots of talent and great individuals.
This is really incredible. I wonder if it would have been possible without all the resets in a reasonable amount of time? Assuming a Max plan because not sure the $20 plan would do it. Have yet to try something like this. Still dabbling in other stuff.
