I’m going independent! I will be starting up my very own Patreon page titled Jack-Hi Sports Preps where I will be covering a multitude of games this season in the Placer County area with a focus on Lincoln and Rocklin. I’d be so appreciative if you joined. 1/2

Well, friends, today was my final day at The Sacramento Bee. This is the job I set my sights on when I started taking journalism classes in seventh grade. I was so very blessed and fortunate to live that dream. Thank you all for sharing that journey with me. Love you, Sacramento!

My farewell story at The Sacramento Bee. What I saw, what inspired me, what moved me to tears.
My next chapter starts next week at Abridged/PBS/KVIE in Sacramento. Same beat, same passion...

The game was called early because of an incident in the stands.
But before that? It was classic Mira Loma football, the defending champs - led by star QB @DeangeloKeys11 - proving unstoppable and keeping their crazy streak of scoring going.

Big time clash in El Dorado Hills tonight as Oak Ridge (2-1) hosts Del Oro (4-0) to open SFL play. These two teams are ranked No. 2 and 3 in our rankings and have two of the most impressive wins in the Sac-Joaquin Section this season. Stay tuned for updates.

Tosh Lupoi on Kingston Lopa's banner day with 3 INT's, including credit to Ben-Hawk Schrider on a presentation today
"Its an expectation. He's someone who does this consistently at practice. Its no surprise. He consistently attacks the ball. Love seeing a guy get rewarded for the work throughout the body of the week."

Hey gang. I am deeply saddened to say my position as The Sacramento Bee’s Kings beat writer was one of the many jobs eliminated Thursday as part of a massive wave of McClatchy Media layoffs across the country. My last day will be Oct. 9.

McClatchy says it eliminated the things its readers don’t care about. Eliminating the Sacramento Bee’s entire sports department makes that argument pretty hard to take seriously.
Sacramento has professional sports, multiple Division I programs and some of the best high school athletes in California. Sports isn’t some obscure niche here. I don’t believe for one second that readers suddenly stopped caring about sports.
So let’s call this what it is. A corporate suit working for a hedge fund decided quality sports coverage wasn’t worth paying for.
Sometimes it’s better to just put a lid on your mouth. Gutless tweet here
