⚠️ Wide load restriction on the A66 ⚠️ Wide loads over 2.9 metres are not permitted to travel between M6 J40 and Temple Sowerby due to narrow lanes installed for A66 NTP upgrade works. The are over 100 signs across the UK near key ports and major routes to let drivers know.

A66 NTP update: CCTV installation between M6 J40 and Temple Sowerby is progressing well. The overnight closure planned for Fri 19 June (midnight–6am), between Kemplay Bank roundabout and Temple Sowerby, is no longer required in either direction.

🚧 Cross St, Kirkby Thore closed 8pm 22 June–8pm 30 June for A66 utility works. Closure runs north & south of Priest Lane (~900m north). Access to Primary School maintained. Signage in place. Please take care & be mindful of parking/turning. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks for your patience during overnight closures of the A66 last week as we installed average speed cameras . 40mph limits remain for safe access use and to install new road layouts. To keep road users and workforce safe, they will remain until we have completed the project .

We’re continuing our preparation work ahead of the A66 NTP project. We'll be carrying out vegetation clearance using overnight lane closures on the A66 eastbound. We'll be working from 16 February to 25 February, 8pm-5am. Thanks for your patience during these works.

We'll be removing the 40mph speed limit to assist the flow of traffic around Penrith during the M6 closures this weekend. The roadworks will be removed between M6 junction 40 and Center Parcs from 9 January. The roadworks will be put back in place on 13 January.
