It was great to visit an E3 Lithium facility last week and learn more about how Alberta’s innovators are helping meet the growing demand for critical minerals. With support from Emissions Reduction Alberta, E3 Lithium is developing innovative technology to produce battery-grade lithium from brine left over from oil and gas operations—turning an existing resource into a valuable new opportunity.

Illegal dumping won’t be stopped by government alone. It takes municipalities, government, and Albertans working together to protect our communities and keep our province clean. Thank you, Kara, for your support. Together, we can send a clear message: illegal dumping has no place in Alberta.

Big changes are coming to Alberta’s recycling program on October 1. • Solar panels will be banned from landfills. • Alberta will launch North America’s first solar panel recycling program. • Those who buy solar panels will pay for responsible recycling—not taxpayers or municipalities. That’s because decommissioned solar panels aren’t simply waste. They contain valuable materials that can be recovered, recycled, and reused. A smarter approach to recycling and a better way to manage the materials we rely on.

Alberta is removing unnecessary regulatory barriers that restrict how farmers manage water on their own cropland. Changes will help restore private property rights, save farmers time and money and make it easier to carry out routine agricultural work. alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=9…

Alberta is restoring farmers’ property rights and cutting red tape. Farmers will be able to carry out routine agriculture activities involving non-permanent wetlands on their own land without government approval. They will also be able to manage excess subsurface water through a clear code of practice for tile drainage, replacing a lengthy approval process and helping improve growing conditions. Together, these reforms mean fewer unnecessary approvals, lower costs, and less time waiting for government decisions.

Nearly $20 million from Alberta’s Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction Fund is supporting four rural Alberta innovators as they develop the next generation of made-in-Alberta technologies. These projects will reduce an estimated 1,400 tonnes of emissions by 2030 while creating more than 600 jobs and strengthening Alberta’s position as a leader in innovation. Investments will advance technologies in carbon capture, hydrogen transportation, more efficient pipeline transportation, and innovative soil treatment to address oil contamination.

Healthy waterways support healthy ecosystems. Since 2021, Alberta has remediated 18 watercourse crossings, reconnected more than 118 km of fish habitat and completed 4,645 inspections to improve fish passage. This supports fish like bull trout, walleye, and northern pike.
