Yes, take responsibility for your own life. But, also yes, forgive yourself and treat yourself with much more kindness than this weirdo, if you struggle to perfectly overcome your ADHD symptoms. People with ADHD already beat themselves up enough, this kind of talk isn’t helpful.
As someone with ADHD who has literally never been late for work it really does feel like you guys are just using your disability as an excuse. Set alarms. Take responsibility for your own life.

I really like the idea that because ADHD is a highly inheritable condition, in my family there must be a long line of absolutely unhinged impulsive af people stretching back generations.

I’ve traded it back to my great grandfather who was an orphan born in rural Poland who became a travelling musician, learned several languages, and decided to move his entire family of 7 to Canada when in 1939 he overheard Russian soldiers talking about potential for war coming.

I want to talk more about how exhausting this can feel.
If ADHD has you stuck, stop trying to find the motivation to finish everything. Find the one next physical action. You don't need the whole plan, you just need to know what to do do next.

When they took away access to trans healthcare for children completely after villainising it for years in the media, the public largely went along with it. This is what is now happening to ADHD. And I wonder who will be next?
This is evil. Welcome to how the NHS has been treating trans people.

The ADHD tax nobody talks about enough is buying the same solution repeatedly because the problem wasn’t the product.

This is huge for ADHD. Forget about that shame you have for not going to the gym consistently as much as you forget to text your friends back. Just go and pretend it’s a brand new thing you’re doing, without the baggage.
Major cheat code for life: realizing you really can just wake up one day and say "that's enough of that" and change direction completely.

The NHS once had to pay me Β£400 in compensation because they did such a terrible job at my ADHD diagnosis and treatment. Top that.

My brain every other week when my ADHD tells me to quit my job, move somewhere else, and start a brand new life.
i think the fastest way to become who you really want is to bite off more than u can chew and figure out how to chew it

If you have ADHD and you have always relied on anxiety to get things done.... You're on the road to ADHD burnout. ADHD burnout means one day anxiety will stop working for you. as a motivational tool. You need to find healthy coping strategies before that happens.

Rationing ADHD diagnoses and treatment will cost the government far more money in the long run than simply diagnosing and providing treatment for every person with ADHD.
Exclusive from @benclatworthy People with ADHD symptoms should not automatically be offered a formal diagnosis, a government review of mental health conditions will say The review will recommend that patients are β€œtriaged” under a β€œneeds based” system that emphasises support over diagnostic labels. It means NHS resources will be prioritised for those with the highest level of impairment from ADHD symptoms, such as those at risk of self-harm or unable to work. Those with milder symptoms may not get referred to NHS clinics but should still be able to get β€œholistic” help if they don’t have a formal diagnosis, the report will say. Children displaying restlessness at school, for example, could get extra one-on-one support regardless of whether they have any formal diagnoses of ADHD, autism or mental health problems The review has been led by Professor Peter Fonagy, a leading psychoanalyst at University College London, and will warn that children and adults are currently β€œincentivised” to seek a diagnosis as it is the gateway to unlocking support - a finding of an interim review published in March This means too many people spend years waiting for an ADHD assessment, with 800,000 currently on NHS waiting lists thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/a…

As someone who has been diagnosed with both ADHD and cancer, I can attest that levels of support I got from the NHS were polar opposites. Spoiler: Cancer support was over the top incredible, ADHD support was nonexistent.
Replying to @DudeAdhd
I don’t understand why a formal diagnosis is being avoided for ADHD. How about we stop formally diagnosing cancer or schizophrenia? How would this go down with the public? 😑

People don’t talk enough about how embarrassing it is to have ADHD fr. Like yes, yes, let’s all work through our shame, but let’s be real this is a very silly condition sometimes
ADHD is an extremely embarrassing disorder to have. Sorry I have the condition that makes me play games instead of doing work

This is the best book about ADHD, hands down, and I stand by it. Life changing stuff, it’s the real deal.
