A Freedom of Information (FoI) expert says the lack of records is “strange and puzzling” and raises “disconcerting questions” about whether “officials are consistently failing to record matters adequately”. It follows revelations that Education Minister Paul Givan wanted to allocate £30,000 to a Co Armagh football team, Richhill AFC. A big surprise to end the day - a GOLDEN HARE!!! It's been about 2.5 months since our last sighting, so between the excitement and the wind it was nigh on impossible to hold steady 😅

It appears to mean they're happy for MLAs in the impacted area, in this case Derry/NW to champion that cause because it may play well with the local electorate. Ask a party leader in Belfast to fully endorse that call for equality: crickets. That seems to align with the position of universities themselves. They're happy for Magee to be expanded, so long as it doesn't impact on Belfast in any way. 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓'𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐒! You don't say, we need more investment outside London, but London won't be weakened in any way. Let's be clear here, you cannot be serious about regional equality — or equality at all — if you also believe it's okay for Belfast to have 84% of the North's Higher Education student population. Because Belfast having that number of students is the central reason for regional equality. Invest NI, the economy department, economic experts, would acknowledge that businesses are all drawn to Belfast because they want to set up next to universities. 𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 84% 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒏𝒐 𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒏𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒔 𝑩𝒆𝒍𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒕 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆. Parties talk about responsible government. They talk about having to make tough decisions in health about where some services should be based. Tell me ... What's different when it comes to applying that logic to higher education? I'll answer that. There is no difference and if someone claims there is, it exposes them and their party as hypocrits. NEW police update this morning: Motorists are advised that Storm Boelo has led to road closures throughout Northern Ireland due to fallen trees. We would particularly draw your attention to closures on the Ballyrobin Road - both lanes currently impassable just after the junction with Seven Mile Straight– which may affect journeys to Belfast International Airport; and on the Glenshane Road, around half a mile from Castledawson roundabout, Derry bound. Please continue to exercise caution while driving. If travel is essential, leave extra time for your journey and increase your stopping distance from the car in front.

BREAKING MAJOR RESCUE OPERATION UNDERWAY OF THE NORTHWEST OF IRELAND A major search and rescue operation is underway of the northwest coast of Ireland around the center of #stormboelo this evening following distress calls from big Russian tanker carrying diesel. The UK Coastguard is coordinating a response to an Inmarsat-C Distress Alert from vessel MYRA. This potentially one of the Russian ships heading to the USA with Diesel . I hope there is no leaks as it would be a environmental disaster. The Irish air corps and Coastguard don't have the capabilities to provide cover due to the range the tanker is out 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 & 𝗦𝗔𝗥 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 Given the extreme distance from mainland coastal stations (beyond typical shore-based rotary SAR operational radius without offshore refueling) and current sea states, direct surface intervention by coastal rescue craft is technically constrained. Standard Search and Rescue protocol in this scenario relies on:Alerting nearby commercial traffic via GMDSS broadcast.Deploying long-range fixed-wing maritime patrol aircraft (such as RAF P-8A Poseidon) for top-cover monitoring and communications relay if required. This rescue operation is ongoing as off 20:57 #SAR #Mayday #Coastguard #storm #weather #ireland #uk – at Leitrim, Ireland
