Bunker Talk: Let’s Talk About All The Things We Did And Didn’t Cover This Week
Welcome to Bunker Talk. This is a weekend open discussion post for the best commenting crew on the net, in which we can chat about all the stuff that went on this week that we didn’t cover. We can also talk about the stuff we did or whatever else grabs your interest. In other words, it’s an off-topic thread. Tyler’s passion is the study of military technology, strategy, as well as foreign policy, and he has fostered a dominant voice on those topics in the defense and national security space. Tyler was the creator of the hugely popular defense site Foxtrot Alpha before developing TWZ , which he continues to lead as the Editor-In-Chief to this day.

Low testosterone crisis in American men could lead to security threats, Trump admin warns
“There is absolutely national defense readiness ramifications for [low testosterone],” Adm. Brian Christine, a senior Department of Health and Human Services official, told Fox News Digital in an interview. Christine also pointed to broader health challenges facing the military’s recruiting pool, warning that 77% of Americans ages 17 to 24 do not qualify for service without a waiver, with obesity, chronic disease and other barriers contributing to the problem.

US expands alcohol restrictions for troops in Japan
This last week, tens of thousands of troops from the U.S., Japan and other nations launched the latest edition of the biennial Keen Sword exercise. The large-scale drills involve more than 50,000 participating troops and focus on repairing bases and infrastructure, maritime combat operations and air defense. Personnel taking part in the exercise are barred from consuming alcohol, on or off base, through the duration of the drills. Stars & Stripes first reported on the consumption ban for Keen Sword, citing a notice shared by Japan’s North Kanto Defense Bureau, part of the Ministry of Defense. A spokesperson for U.S. Forces Japan confirmed the ban, saying that alongside the prohibition on drinking, troops participating in Keen Sword are subject to curfew from midnight to 5 a.m. However, there are no restrictions on buying alcohol.

DUNE Project Aims to Unite Legacy and Cloud Tools in Air Ops Centers
After decades of building isolated, vendor-locked systems to run the Air Operations Centers that serve as the Air Force’s “combat brains,” the program office tasked with creating the next-generation AOC is working to fold those systems into a new cloud-based system. Col. Brian Viola , the newly appointed commander of Kessel Run, the government-led, vendor-managed program office underneath the portfolio acquisition executive for command, control, communications, and battle management, told Air & Space Forces Magazine in a recent interview that his team is standardizing how cloud-based applications and software updates to AOCs get accessed worldwide in real time.
