Time is the great leveller.
Cliveden House burnt down in 1849. The architect behind Parliament rebuilt it in two years. Now, Parliament has spent over a decade just planning its own repairs. What happened to the country that built things? 👇

True, will fix
Marc Andreessen on why cities ended up with $3 million homes, public housing, and no middle class "There's a French geographer who has the best analysis on this, a great book called Twilight of the Elites. If you replant the commanding heights of your economy on knowledge work, you're going to slam basically all economic growth into the cities" "The cities become a magnet for two kinds of people. The highly educated elite who can afford $3 million houses, and then public housing. Who's squeezed out is the entire middle class. If you're a cop or a firefighter and you work in Palo Alto, you can be commuting 3 hours both ways just to have a house and afford a family" "You look at the cities and there's lots of dogs, very few kids. You can't buy a house, you can't have a family. You've ejected the middle out of the cities into the countryside, but you've deindustrialized, so there's no new economic activity happening in the countryside"

observation. designing stuff in the real world will not be a blocker in the future. how that interfaces with the actual reality will be. therefore manufacturing is the grand theory of everything. that is where you should place your bets folks.

UK airports are starting to roll out new contactless eGates. Passengers at East Midlands Airport will be able to pass through securely using state-of-the-art facial technology to verify their identity. This is estimated to be up to 25% faster compared to using a passport at an eGate.‌ All airport eGates are set to be contactless by early 2027.

Submarines are cool
Commandos x submarine. A powerful combination. Commandos emerged from the depths of the North Atlantic on a German U-boat to carry out a daring operation as part of the largest test of all arms of the @Commando_Ops in 15 years. Read more: royalnavy.mod.uk/news/2026/o…

Would you like to spread factories across California? We are hiring for a General Manager for @IsembardGroup in California. You will setup the first factory in either SF, LA, SD or wherever else you are located. DM me if you know anyone great. Small seeds, mighty Sequoias.
