What a morning celebrating the #BioBuilderClub work of Puloma and Veni!!!! @SystemsSally @Andover_HS boston25news.com/news/andove…
LOVE this #BioBuilder Colorful World transformation/engineering discussion in biotech class. What is the effect of chassis on gene expression? Which design would you choose if you had to make bio paint?? @SystemsSally
In my happy place. It’s ELISA day! It’s also remarkable how different kids’ perceptions of this lab are with the ubiquity of rapid COVID tests…
#BioBuilderClub students met with Dr. Robbie Wilson at MIT about rubisco engineering that could enhance photosynthesis to decrease global warming. We then traveled to the BioBuilder learning lab with @SystemsSally and toured @Ginkgo . An inspiring afternoon!! @AndoverHS_Princ
Hive: I am studying the educational experiences of HS students with learning disabilities in biology/biotech. What resources are there that do NOT emphasize biology vocabulary or textbook instruction? Please share! Textbooks are static. Science is not.
🦗🦗What are your thoughts @KuhnboBio @pinkerteach @MrMathieuTweets @bulleribio @LHS_Chou @wolfsciedu @brewerbiology @SchermsLHS / others? What strategies do we use for meaningful engagement for the LD population?
End of #BioBuilderClub photo to say farewell to our seniors, as well as visits from ‘21 members to talk about their plans for summer research - The @igemmcgill team joined virtually to give us a sweet tour of the lab! 🧬🧫 @SystemsSally @AndoverHS_Princ
These yellow submarines are music to our ears!! Spinning corn chip DNA for the @miniPCR GMO lab. Stay tuned for tomorrow results! 👀😍🌽🧬
New hobbies like winter hiking in 30mph winds (wind chill -13) make me mentally stronger with everything going on. What have you taken up since 2020? 🏔🥳🥶👊🏻
Biotech students really enjoyed meeting with @miniPCR @allyquot about her career path that led her to @biobitsproject . Takeaways? Be flexible, make mistakes, do things not because it looks good, but because you enjoy them. 🧬🧫🧑🔬👊🏻 @AndoverHS_Princ
Evaluating competing genetic designs for banana scented bacteria today in #BioBuilderClub- the results are in: stationary 1-1 was best, and “that was fun!” Great send off to vacation 🍌🍌🧫🧫🧬
SO MUCH SCIENCE. Amplifying our sleep alleles, pouring gels, finishing up synthetic biology presentations. “I really like all this multitasking” exclaimed one student. Living the dream! 😍🧬🤓🥳 @miniPCR
#BioBuilderClub students had a great visit from a parent who works at Pfizer, who shared the exciting world of large molecule production from cells. 🧬🧬🧬 @AndoverHS_Princ
The @biobitsproject results are in: kids love learning about the central dogma this way! Relevant, rigorous, hands-on phenomena to pique their interest. @allyquot @miniPCR 💕🧬
Really wonderful to wish #BioBuilder a happy 10th birthday this evening. Beautiful event, passionate people, inspiration for horizons ahead. 🥳 @SystemsSally
The kids got great results with the new @miniPCR CRISPR “Knockout” lab! The control metabolizes a sugar that makes the cells blue, while CRISPR/Cas9 in KO cells makes them unable to digest the sugar so the cells stay white. It’s going to be a good week!!! @AndoverHS_Princ
Woke up on this fine Friday morning to our @mudwatt123 blinking! If the bacteria made that much energy, I can totally power through today 🤣😵💫🥳💡
#BioBuilder club kickoff today! We opened with discussing @nisenet Tech Tokens: where would you invest? What are the stakeholders’ perspectives? (My money is on $DNA @Ginkgo !) 🧬👨🔬👩🔬🧫 @SystemsSally @AndoverHS_Princ
