Excited to share a new Perspective published today in @NatureCellBio, written with Colin Gliech
In this piece, we discuss how cells leverage biological “clocks” during mitosis to protect genome integrity—a fascinating layer of regulation in cell division.

HLS, an autosomal recessive #ciliopathy, is associated with a mutation in the centriole protein HYLS1. Curinha, Holland et al @JohnsHopkins show that HYLS1 mutant mice exhibit developmental abnormalities, with #centriole integrity & #cilia assembly defects hubs.la/Q038p3mr0

BREAKING: Johns Hopkins along with 12 peer institutions and Assoc of Amer Univ sues to stop drastic cuts in NIH funding. This is separate from lawsuit brought by 22 states, which also includes Maryland. Hopkins prez cites our 600 clinical trials that would be crippled by the cut.

Mesoscale regulation of MTOCs by the E3 ligase TRIM37 dlvr.it/TFRbdj

📝Preprint! 1️⃣Question: How are large MTOC structures regulated by an E3 ligase? 🧵In 2020, we showed TRIM37 suppresses surrogate MTOC structures in 17q23 cancers, see ⬇️). But TRIM37 also regulates centrosomes and pathological MTOCs (Gönczy/Oegema/Desai labs). How?? ➡️our model

2️⃣ Model: My work at @ahollandlab suggests a shared blueprint within the TRIM family for assembly regulation. Akin to TRIM5a in HIV restriction, TRIM37 employs an assembly-driven E3 activation process but is uniquely tailored for MTOC control via its TRAF domain. ➡️Impact

Today's @US_FDA decision to expand use of Bispecific T-cell Engager (BiTE®) immunotherapy to adult patients receiving front-line B-ALL therapy is a major milestone in the care of leukemia patients. As a hematologist who cared for patients with ALL just prior to joining @Amgen, I am well calibrated to the chance this medicine and regimen has to change the outcome for so many fighting this disease. Bravo. #MyCompany
We’re proud to announce that the @US_FDA has approved Amgen’s BiTE® immunotherapy for the treatment of CD19-positive Ph-negative B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) in the consolidation phase.
