claude code recovered 153,359 photos and videos that were permanently deleted from my old iPhone…
5 years of my life sank to the bottom of a lake on my birthday in 2021. no backup. a repair shop told me to throw the phone away. i couldn't, so it sat in a drawer for 5 years
i dried it out one more time, plugged it into my macbook, opened claude code and asked one thing: is anything still alive on this phone?
the screen flickered, the apple logo came up, and claude started pulling files. 153,359 of them
here's what came back:
> the seed phrase for a wallet that held *****$
> the last voicemail from my dad, the one i'd been trying to get back for 5 years
> the video of me proposing, filmed by my best friend from behind a tree
> my grandma singing happy birthday, 2 months before she passed
> 2,140 photos from the lisbon trip i thought were gone forever
> the first time my son said "dad", 14 seconds i would have paid any amount for
> 11 GB of videos from my first apartment, back when we had nothing and were happy anyway
a phone i thought was dead for 5 years was holding all of it the whole time
claude sorted everything by year and put it in one folder on my desktop. i opened 2019 and sat there until morning
took me one night and i didn't write a single line of code
the full step-by-step is in the comments. check that old phone in your drawer before you throw it away ↓
Step 7 → check your old icloud too. claude can help you find out if anything from that phone was ever synced there without you knowing
Step 6 → once the backup is done, ask claude to sort everything by year and put it in one folder, so you're not digging through 100,000 files with names like IMG_4821
Step 5 → let claude walk you through making a full backup to your laptop first, before you try anything else. if the phone dies again halfway, the backup is what saves you
Step 4 → open claude code and tell it what happened to the phone, which model it is and what you want back most: photos, videos, voice memos
Step 3 → plug it into your laptop. if it asks "trust this computer?", tap trust and enter your passcode. you'll need to remember it, nothing works without it
Step 2 → charge it with the original cable for at least an hour. even if the screen stays black, the phone can still be alive inside
Step 1 → make sure the phone is completely dry. leave it somewhere warm and airy for at least 2 days. no rice, no hairdryer, and don't plug it in while there's any moisture inside
anthropic just leaked their own phone OS. it's called AnthropicOS 30, and it makes iOS and android look 10 years old…
i put it on my 4-year-old samsung that could barely open instagram. 3 minutes after install it was faster than my girlfriend's iPhone 17 pro
here's what it does that your phone can't:
> speed · old phones run 90% faster on it. it throws out everything android and iOS keep running in the background, so a 4-year-old phone opens apps like it's brand new
> battery · 2 days on one charge. the heavy work happens on anthropic's side, so the phone barely does anything itself
> storage · no apps installed means nothing eats your space. a 64 GB phone feels like 512
> memory · claude decides what stays open and what sleeps. 3 GB of RAM behaves like 12
> no app store · you describe the app you want and claude builds it in seconds. no downloads, no 30% cut for apple or google
> updates · android gives you 3 years, iOS gives you 6. this never gets old, because claude rebuilds everything whenever you ask
even the search bar says "ask claude, or build an app"
my friend asked which phone it was. i told him it's not a phone anymore, it's an assistant with a screen
apple has maybe a year left
the full step-by-step guide to install it on your own phone is in the comments, before they take it down ↓
Build me an interactive of a phone OS called "AnthropicOS 30" as a single web page, and open it in Chrome when it's done.
It should look and feel like a real phone in a dark, minimal style with warm orange accents:
1. Boot screen · a short boot animation with the text "AnthropicOS 30", then fade into the lock screen.
2. Lock screen · big clock and date, plus a card called "while you were away" listing 3 finished tasks: "fixed island spring animation", "booked dinner with Ana", "planned a weekend in Lviv". Swipe up or click to unlock.
3. Home screen · a greeting "Good afternoon. Here's what I'm on." with:
- a "needs you" section with 2 cards and buttons: "Approve dinner at Lumière, 19:45" (Approve) and "Max asked about your phone" (Reply)
- an "agents" section showing 3 agents working, each with a progress bar that slowly moves
- a search bar at the bottom: "Ask Claude, or build an app"
4. Library · an app grid with Claude, Code, Agents, Messages, Phone, Mail, Calendar, Camera, Photos, Notes, Calculator, Maps, Music, Weather, Browser and Settings, plus a note: "Nothing here yet. Ask Claude Code to make you an app."
5. Controls · swipe down or click to open a control center with brightness and volume dials, wifi, bluetooth and airplane toggles, a music player playing "Golden Hour", and a "Deep Work" mode: "agents only, until 13:00".
6. Typing in the search bar · when I type something like "build a timer", show a short "building…" animation and then open a simple working timer app inside the phone.
Make everything clickable and smooth, so it feels like a real phone. Show it inside a phone frame on desktop and full screen on mobile.
Save it as anthropicos.html and open it in Chrome.
the world's first claude code run on the iPhone Duo. and i think it's the best setup anyone can carry in a pocket right now…
and here's why this combo is the biggest leap for solo founders since the laptop itself:
> two screens, two jobs · claude code on the left, messages, mail and X on the right. no switching apps, no losing your place
> a real keyboard when you need it · unfold it flat and the bottom half turns into a full keyboard. it's a tiny laptop with a 2-second boot
> the mac does the heavy lifting · you have literally 2 incredibly powerful devices · claude code runs on the mac mini at home. the phone just steers, so the battery barely moves
> it works while you sleep · fold it, put it on the nightstand, and claude code keeps building on the mac until morning
> it's always on you · your laptop stays at home. this is in your pocket at dinner, in the car, in line for coffee
would you want this combo for yourself? ↓

I plugged my Claude Code agent into a regular socket, and Opus 5.5 mapped my whole apartment in minutes and saved me $2000
one dumb socket wired straight into Claude Code, no smart home, no apps, no dashboards
when my TV broke, it told me within 7 minutes exactly where it was shorting, and I never paid $700 for a technician
Opus 5.5 works out by itself what is running in the apartment right now:
> the AC, down to the mode it is sitting in and what it pulls per hour
> my Tesla, charging state and how much it is drawing right now
> the PlayStation, idle or in a game, and how much it wastes doing nothing
over the last month it saved me more than $2000 on electricity alone, switching things off and around that I would never have noticed ↓

claude code turned my dead old android into an iPhone running iOS 16…
it sat in a drawer for 3 years. 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage that was always full, a battery that died by lunch, and whatsapp took 9 seconds to open
claude code went through it piece by piece:
> memory · turned unused storage into virtual RAM. 2 GB became 8 GB, and apps stopped reloading every time i switched between them
> storage · took an old memory card from the same drawer and merged it into the phone's own storage, so android sees it as one drive. 16 GB became 128 GB, and apps install straight onto it like it's built in
> speed · disabled 38 bloat apps and stopped 21 of them from secretly starting in the background
> battery · switched everything to true black dark mode and killed the trackers waking the phone up all night. a full day on one charge
> ads · set up a private DNS that blocks ads across every app and browser on the phone, no extra app needed
then it rebuilt the whole look: iOS home screen, control center, the settings app, the dock. even the "about" page says iPhone now
boots in 14 seconds instead of 52. whatsapp opens instantly
my friend asked which iPhone it was. i told him it was the android from my drawer
took me one evening and i didn't write a single line of code
the whole thing was 1 prompt. it's in the comments, and that phone in your drawer gets a second life ↓

the whole thing was 1 prompt. it's in the comments, and that phone in your drawer gets a second life ↓
here's the prompt. plug your old android into your laptop, open claude code and paste this:
"Help me revive my old Android phone and make it look and feel like an iPhone. Go step by step, explain each step in plain language, and ask me before every change. Never uninstall anything, only disable, and keep everything reversible.
1. Connect
Install adb if it's missing. Tell me exactly how to turn on Developer options and USB debugging on my model, and when to tap 'Allow' on the phone.
2. Back up first
Save the full list of installed packages to backup/packages.txt and write a restore.sh script that re-enables everything you disable later.
3. Memory
Check if my phone supports virtual RAM (often called RAM Plus, Virtual RAM or Memory Extension) and turn it on to the highest setting it allows. If it doesn't support it, tell me honestly.
4. Storage
If the phone has a memory card slot and a card in it, walk me through formatting the card as internal storage so Android treats it as one drive. Warn me first that this erases the card, and remind me to copy anything on it.
5. Speed
List the preinstalled apps and sort them into: bloat, manufacturer trackers, and system apps the phone needs. After I approve, disable the bloat with pm disable-user --user 0. Set all animation scales to 0.5x and stop apps I don't use from running in the background.
6. Battery
Switch on dark mode and turn off background syncing and services that wake the phone up at night, only the ones I approve.
7. Ads
Set Private DNS to an ad-blocking provider so ads are blocked across every app.
8. The iPhone look
Install an iOS-style launcher, control center and icon pack that I approve, set it as the default home screen, and set up the dock and home screen like an iPhone.
9. Finish
Show me a before/after summary: RAM, free storage, boot time, and what you changed. Remind me that restore.sh undoes everything.
If something doesn't match my phone, stop and tell me instead of guessing."
CLAUDE CODE FOUND 56 DATING PROFILES USING MY FACE. PHOTOS AND VIDEOS I NEVER POSTED ANYWHERE…
my girlfriend came home crying. her friends found me on a dating app and sent her the screenshots. "isn't this your boyfriend?" my face, my name, my city. i've never had a dating app in my life
i connected claude code to my phone and ran a full scan. it found an app i never installed that had been quietly uploading my camera roll for months
then it checked my files against 14 dating sites. here's what was out there:
my files → 4,782 photos, videos and screen recordings, found online
fake profiles → 254, all using my face, matched at up to 99%
names → "Tyler, 20, Austin", "tyler.20", "MamasBoyTyler"
one of them → asking girls to "venmo me $5"
someone has been talking to strangers as me, and some of them sent money thinking it was me
in 30 minutes claude gathered the proof, wrote a report for every site and removed the app. some profiles are still up, so now it checks for new ones every week
i wouldn't wish this on anyone. how to check your own photos and phone, step by step in the comments. save it and run it on yourself ↓
Help me find out if my photos are being used on fake profiles, and if anything on my phone is leaking them. This is my own phone. Only read data, never delete or change anything unless I say so. Explain everything in plain language.
1. Connect to my phone (libimobiledevice for iPhone, adb for Android) and tell me what to tap to allow it.
2. List every app with full access to my photos. Flag anything I don't remember installing, anything with a generic name, anything not from the official store, and anything that uploads in the background. Explain why each one is flagged.
3. Pick the 10 clearest photos of my face that I use most, the ones most likely to be stolen, and copy them into a folder called check/.
4. Walk me through running each photo through Google Lens and TinEye. Tell me what a fake profile usually looks like in the results: my face with a different name, a different city, or a dating site I've never used.
5. For every match I find, help me save the link, a screenshot and the date into a file called evidence.md.
6. Write a short impersonation report for each site, ready to paste into its "report profile" form, saying the profile uses my photos without my permission.
7. Before I remove any app that was uploading my photos, save its name, ID, install date and permissions to evidence.md first.
Never guess. If you're not sure about something, say so.
the full step-by-step, takes 5 minutes:
step 1 → plug your phone into your laptop, open claude code and paste the prompt from the next comment. works on iPhone and android
step 2 → it lists every app that has full access to your photos, and flags the ones you don't remember installing or that upload in the background
step 3 → it picks your 10 most-used photos of your face, the ones a fake profile would steal first
step 4 → run each one through Google Lens and TinEye. claude tells you exactly what to look for in the results
step 5 → for every fake profile you find, screenshot it and save the link before you report it
step 6 → claude writes the impersonation report for each site, ready to paste. every dating site has one under "report profile"
step 7 → tell your friends and your partner before they find it themselves
