The IRGC is now where it belongs: On the EU's terror list next to its proxies Hamas and the military wing of Hezbollah.
We applaud the @EUCouncil for taking this important step and call on it to list Hezbollah in its entirety.

Thank you Foreign Minister @prevotmaxime for the open and constructive exchange with AJC lay leaders.
We strongly agree that no one should hide their identity or fear for their children because they are Jewish.
Belgium’s plan to strengthen cooperation across all levels of government and involve Jewish communities in new measures against antisemitism is the right approach.
@AJCTAI stands ready to help and looks forward to working together. 🇧🇪
🇺🇸🇮🇱 Very good and open conversation with the American Jewish Committee @AJCGlobal about our shared commitment to fighting antisemitism in Belgium and in the United States, and more globally around the world.
No one should feel unsafe, hide their identity or fear for their children because they are Jewish. Political leaders and civil society organisations have a responsibility to stand together on this, whatever our political differences. That means listening to Jewish communities, taking their concerns seriously, giving answers to them and challenging the disinformation, conspiracy theories and antisemitic stereotypes that fuel hatred.
Belgium’s commitment is longstanding and unequivocal. Building on existing efforts, we are strengthening cooperation across all levels of government and preparing further measures to combat antisemitism, with representatives of Belgium’s Jewish communities involved in this work. Our goal is clear: ensuring that Jewish life can flourish in Belgium in safety and dignity.

We have watched with horror as violent riots have engulfed Paris and spread across France.
What we are witnessing should serve as a cautionary tale for leaders everywhere. Failing to confront extremism and allowing extremist rhetoric and behavior to become normalized erode democratic values, deepen societal divisions, and create the conditions for political violence to take hold.
For more than 20 years, @AJC_Paris has warned that rising antisemitism and extremism are not only threats to the Jewish community, but also warning signs of a deeper crisis facing French democracy and society.
We stand with the peaceful, law-abiding people of France whose lives, livelihoods, and communities have been affected by the violence, and hope for a swift restoration of peace and stability.

We strongly condemn the recent violence in which Israeli extremists attacked Palestinians, burned olive trees, and injured a Washington Post photographer. We wish Heidi Levine a full and speedy recovery from her injuries.
We call for an urgent, coordinated effort from Israeli authorities to bring an end to the wave of Israeli extremist violence that has harmed civilians throughout the West Bank.
Order must be restored, and violent extremists prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Congratulations to Katharina von Schnurbein on her appointment as Germany’s Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life and the Fight against Antisemitism.
A longstanding friend and close partner of the AJC Transatlantic Institute, Katharina has been at the forefront of European efforts to combat antisemitism and promote Jewish life. Her tireless work, dedication, and leadership as the European Commission’s Coordinator on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life have left a lasting impact on Jewish communities across Europe.
While Katharina’s leadership in Brussels will be greatly missed, we are confident that the next Coordinator on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life will build on her remarkable legacy and carry forward her vision, dedication, and commitment to ensuring that Jewish life can flourish across Europe.
We are grateful for her friendship, partnership, and unwavering commitment, and we look forward to continuing our close cooperation in her new role. @EUAntisemitism

“We have seen organizations receiving EU funding that have subsequently been identified by national authorities as having links to the Muslim Brotherhood network.”

We mourn the death of a 14-year-old boy killed today when unexploded Hezbollah ordnance detonated during a school hike in northern Israel near the Lebanese border, injuring 24 students and teachers.
This tragedy is yet another devastating reminder of the enduring threat Hezbollah poses to innocent civilians. Hezbollah’s reckless militarization of southern Lebanon continues to exact a terrible human cost.
May his memory be a blessing, and may all those injured make a full and speedy recovery.

“Islamist entryism does not always begin with the sound of weapons. It begins with a smile, a neatly tied tie, and the language of human rights twisted to serve another purpose. It kills when it can, but it infiltrates when it cannot.”
🎥 MEP @CelineImart in the European Parliament debate on the need for an EU strategy to counter Islamist entryism and the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The EU has decided to establish a new European Union Support Mission in Lebanon (EUSM Lebanon). As Kaja Kallas noted, it will support Lebanon’s institutions in “restoring full sovereignty and building lasting stability for the Lebanese people.”
We fully agree. If the EU is serious about achieving that goal, it should finally designate Hezbollah in its entirety as a terrorist organisation. It is long past time to end the artificial distinction between Hezbollah’s political and military wings. The EU must list Hezbollah as a terrorist organisation in its entirety.

The same week, two Nobel laureates, two very different legacies.
Navi Pillay has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She is a longtime accuser of Israel: she signed an appeal titled “Sanction Apartheid Israel!”, publicly backed BDS, and chaired the commission that concluded Israel committed genocide in Gaza. She also dismissed concerns about antisemitism at the 2009 Durban Review Conference as a “highly organized campaign of disinformation,” and said Jews and Israel had “ganged up together” to distort the 2001 Durban Conference.
Holocaust survivor Henri Kagan, whose Jewish family hid under assumed names in wartime France, won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry at 95.
Congratulations to Henri Kagan!

There is no place for vandalism at a memorial dedicated to the victims of the October 7 terrorist massacres.
Transatlantic Friends of Israel condemn the actions of MEP Rima Hassan at the European Parliament exhibition commemorating the victims of Hamas' terrorist attack.
🔗 Statement: transatlanticinstitute.org/t…
The European Parliament has sent a clear message: entities and individuals linked to the Muslim Brotherhood should be added to the EU terrorist list.
Islamist extremism has no place in Europe. Today's vote underscores the need for a comprehensive EU strategy to counter Islamist entryism, radicalisation, and networks that threaten our democratic values.
“The Muslim Brotherhood should be banned.”

Yesterday at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the AJC Transatlantic Institute was honoured to co-organise, together with @IMPACoexistence, a commemoration of October 7 under the theme "Memory. Dignity. The Duty to Prevent."
We thank @EP_President @RobertaMetsola for her powerful remarks, MEP @HildeBentele for hosting this important commemoration, former hostage Omri Miran for sharing his testimony, and all those who joined us to honour the victims and stand against terrorism.

A moving moment at @Europarl_EN tonight as we remember the victims of the 7 October terrorist attack in Israel. We were joined by Omri Miran, who was taken from his loved ones and kept hostage by Hamas terrorists for 738 days.
His story is not one of tears, but of resilience. Of the triumph of hope in the bleakest of circumstances. Of the power of family and love to overcome. Of light in the darkness.
We remember. 🕯
Three years ago, Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, murdering, kidnapping, and terrorizing innocent civilians.
Today, we honour the memory of the victims, stand with the survivors, and remember all those whose lives were forever changed on October 7.
We remember the victims. We stand with the survivors. We will not forget.

Listen to the panic. The horror. The voices recorded during Hamas' morning of terror.
October 7, 2023: 1,200 lives taken. More than 250 taken hostage into Gaza.
Yuval, Maya, and Guy’s lives were shattered in an instant by Hamas’ cruelty.
It’s been three years since Hamas’ massacre. We will never forget what was done and will continue to honor the memory of every victim.

Yesterday, at an exhibition at the European Parliament co-hosted by @AJCTAI honouring the victims of the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel, MEP Rima Hassan desecrated the memorial.
We thank @EP_President Roberta Metsola for responding with the moral clarity this moment demands and for standing unequivocally with Europe’s Jews:
“At a time of rising antisemitism, we owe it to Europe’s Jewish community that, when they look to us, they see that this is their house too.”
The @Europarl_EN is a place where everyone must feel safe, secure and protected.
We cannot have actions that could make people fearful of speaking; we cannot have damage to property and we cannot have attempts to intimidate rather than to debate.
At a time of rising global antisemitism, we owe it to Europe's Jewish community to ensure that when they look to us, they see that this is their House too.
Shocking reports that MEP Rima Hassan knocked over Israeli and EU flags at an October 7 memorial exhibition in the European Parliament are deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
Co-organised by AJC Transatlantic Institute, the exhibition honoured the victims of the October 7 massacre. Several MEPs, including François-Xavier Bellamy, have condemned the incident and called for accountability.
If confirmed, this would be a serious breach of the standards expected in the democratic house of the European Union. The facts must be fully investigated, and appropriate sanctions should follow without delay.
There can be no tolerance for disrespect toward terror victims, democratic institutions, or the values the EU is meant to uphold.
