Everytime I'm in Lagos I try to see the boys at Shekel Mobility
Last time, I was talking about something to Ben, suddenly Sanmy stopped me and went
"Now I see why Michael(Siebel) likes you"
Me: Heinnn
Him: You sound like him
Me: hhahaah
The thing just remember how Michael once told me that he wanted me to sound like him, but I didn't have the shoulders to carry that weight then so I thought and I think I probably always sounded like that but just wasn't fully ready, and now I guess a new door opened

Got a message from a customer, what I'll call a good complaint "payments take 5s but you show the company name to the recipient" I'm not sure how to take it
So i guess now we'll allow everyone to decide what name they want to show 😂
Bujeti: built to kill bureaucracy
Slow, apparently, is the norm here. Nobody chose it, we were born into it: the stamp, the signature, the photocopy of the photocopy, the “come back tomorrow”, the famous “I’ll get back to you”, and after a while you don’t even see it anymore. Companies grow up inside it and copy it, because that’s what a serious company is supposed to look like, right? Three signatures and a committee to buy chairs or pens
So when someone decides in an afternoon, pays a supplier the same day, ships before the meeting about shipping, they’re the strange one. Around here, speed reads as risk and slowness reads as seriousness
I understand where it comes from (trust is scarce, information even more, so you add a checkpoint, then another, for decades), and for a long time it worked that way. But the price is growth. Every wait teaches people that speed isn’t their job, and you end up with a culture where everyone covers themselves and nobody decides alone, which is exactly where hyper growth can’t live. The good thing is that when everyone is slow, the fast company doesn’t win a little, it wins by a mile, because it isn’t up against fast competitors, it’s up against habits
That takes people with drive, brains, real mastery of their field and ownership without needing the title, plus the urgency and the agency to act. People alone aren’t enough, though, because habit pulls everyone back down: a brilliant team stuck with tools from the past and outdated rules goes slow within six months. Tools and environment shape behaviour more than any value written on the wall
That’s also why Bujeti exists: decisions made in real time, payments built for the 21st century, no more speed bumps between deciding and doing. The result is that your company moves faster, spends less and gets its time back
That's the best way! not the only way but... trial by fire
@MyleneFlicka haha
This sounds like @BujetiHQ that's the answer
As business grows, executives and managers begin to seek greater control and optimisation of their business funds and expenses.
+ Marketing wants a card for Meta ads
+ That spend comes out of a budget (sub: paid acq.) that the GTM lead owns
+ GTM lead might also want to invest in sponsoring an event like Borderless, which will come from the main marketing budget
+ CEO and COO want to know how the money is being spent.
In the future, the COO hires another staff member, say, a dedicated performance marketer and adds that person to the marketing budget or paid acquisition sub-budget
In the US, this thing is a $4B dollar market, and you can see it with Ramp and the likes. The market is much smaller in the UK, and requires support by providing more financial services than just SaaS/workflows.
Still, the US and the UK make up about 70% of the market.
The natural question to ask is: Who's building this in Africa? But why should they?
Les cartes! Elles sont pas juste belles, elles sont internationales
Pour vos employés;
Pour vos paiements en lignes et en physique;
Pour controller et limiter les dépenses;

Looking for a spend management? an expense management? that does both local and global payouts?
Look no further, @BujetiHQ is your answer!
Sur certains points on est totalement d'accord
"France is still, in many ways, a monarchy. Not on paper, but in practice. There's a court, there are courtiers, and access to the court is everything.
In the US, the best win. In France, the network wins.
That means having the better product doesn't make you win. Having the better network does
And when the network wins instead of the best, mediocrity spreads to every floor of the building. Every company, every institution, every level"
I'm from France. Here's why success doesn't work there.
France is still, in many ways, a monarchy. Not on paper, but in practice. There's a court, there are courtiers, and access to the court is everything.
In the US, the best win. In France, the network wins.
That means having the better product doesn't make you win. Having the better network does. Who you went to school with. Who you had dinner with. Which minister's office your friend used to work in.
And when the network wins instead of the best, mediocrity spreads to every floor of the building. Every company, every institution, every level.
This isn't a side effect of socialism. It's where socialism ends up. The more state you have, the more crony capitalism you get. The more crony capitalism you get, the less excellence survives.
Today, the Democratic Party is walking you down that exact road.
Here's what happens next. The most talented people leave. Less wealth gets created in America. Less wealth means more demand for the state. More state means more cronyism. And the loop feeds itself.
Don't enter that loop. For the love of God.
America is still the living lung of the West. The last organism in our civilization that's fully alive while everything else slowly suffocates.
You can still make sure socialism and communism die everywhere in the West.
Start at home.
4 new banks are coming on Bujeti! We might become a bank marketplace at this point, your bank's infra with our amazing service and customer support!

Africa is not one market. That fragmentation is also part of the opportunity.
Currencies differ. Regulation differs. Payment rails differ. Logistics differ. Identity systems differ.
Companies that can abstract that complexity for customers can become very valuable.
Hiring and firing can make a company. Both are extremely hard
Btw, do i have the same accent when speaking English?
The hardest decision Alice has had to make as a CFO? Letting people go.
Every finance leader knows that some decisions go beyond the numbers. The financial case may be clear, but the human cost is harder to quantify.
How do you navigate that tension?
