.@AMWIK successfully hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM)-2026. Bringing together veteran journalists, emerging media professionals, and digital content creators.
This year’s hybrid AGM was a powerful testament to resilience and adaptability as we reflected on our triumphs, current challenges, and the co-creation of the Association's future.
As the meeting wrapped up, the message was clear: the success of AMWIK relies entirely on the collective energy of its members. With new resolutions passed and a renewed sense of purpose, the association is ready to tackle the upcoming year with fresh vigor.
Thank you, members, for making the AGM a resounding success! #IamAMWIK
The Association of Media Women in Kenya is participating in a strategic retreat on election reporting, results transparency, and information integrity for the 2027 General Elections alongside the @IEBCKenya and members of the Kenya Media Sector Working Group (KMSWG).
The engagement is a fulfillment of the Media and IEBC Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2026. The MoU seeks to enhance direct access to verifiable electoral information, build the capacity of journalists in election reporting, and proactively counter digital threats, deepfakes, and political misinformation.
This framework matters because establishing clear rules of engagement and transparent channels between the electoral commission and media houses safeguards democratic integrity.
Ultimately, the media’s role in elections is key in serving as a trusted bridge to the public, verifying real-time data, ensuring fair, gender-sensitive, and ethical coverage, and holding institutions accountable to secure a credible, peaceful 2027 poll. #2027GE

The passage of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2023, is a welcome step towards strengthening public awareness of sexual offences and protecting survivors’ right to education, including teenage mothers.
The next step is to ensure the Bill is fully enacted, adequately funded and effectively implemented, with clear guidelines and accountability mechanisms.
Survivors must not be denied an education because of sexual violence. The law must move beyond paper to deliver protection, access to justice and lasting change.

Trust is an economic asset, not a moral soft skill. The four arenas defining the new global order:
• Public Institutions & Rule of Law
• International Cooperation
• AI & Information Integrity
• Market Growth & Capital

The data is in, and the deficit is official: low or no trust in national governments (43%) now outweighs high trust (40%) globally. Institutions aren't facing a temporary slump; they are facing a structural crisis of confidence across 42 nations. ~@monicabrezzi
How do governments reverse this balance?

Only 42% of citizens believe government policies are backed by solid evidence. Worse, only 31% feel they have a say in what government does. When decision-making feels opaque and arbitrary, public skepticism becomes the default setting.
