Putin has started his winter operation against our energy system – massively, right now, in October. People are left without electricity because Russian ballistic missiles and drones keep hitting our energy, and water supplies, and energy facilities. I ask you to really focus on helping us get PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptors. Ukraine can’t get by on just two or four missiles from a country every few months. Of course, we are thankful to all of you, but I think you have to understand. So please let what European countries already have be put to use to protect our lives. We need a winter package – we always spoke about it between us – of missiles – 300 Patriot interceptors specifically against ballistic missiles. And this is really important. Not just for Ukraine, but strategically – for what happens next, after this winter, to Ukraine and to all of Europe. Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address at the European Council meeting.

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, President Zelenskyy joined lyceum students from across the country as they took the Lyceum Student Oath together online. They included more than 450 students of military lyceums, over 470 students of the security-oriented lyceums of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and around 130 students of the Military Lyceum of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Among them were lyceum students from Kyiv, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia, Berdychiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Khmelnytskyi. “Of course, given the current circumstances and security requirements, our annual tradition is taking place this way – in a special format. But what matters most is that our special tradition of taking this oath, of beginning the mission of a future Ukrainian officer, continues unchanged – year after year. And this means one thing: no matter how hard Russia tries, it will fail. It will fail to destroy our traditions, Ukrainian dreams, our state, our freedom, and our future,” the President said.

Russia uses citizens of 47 countries in its war: Ghana, Nepal, Tajikistan, India, Yemen, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Belarus, Sudan, South Africa, and many, many others. And from time to time, we receive requests to send particular POWs back home. And through the videos from our drones, we also see people dying on the battlefield who are not Russians. People from your countries – 47 countries – who ended up in Russia through deception and tricks. Do not let Putin drag you into his war. Do not let Russia put out its fires, cover up its shame, and pay for its madness with the lives of your people. Limit his room to act. Limit his money. Limit his war. And please do not be the last to join those who defend life. Be the first to say: “We guaranteed security.” Thank you, everyone who helps. Thank you to everyone who stands with us, with our people, with our children, with Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to the participants of the General Debate of the UN General Assembly in New York.

President Zelenskyy met with representatives and leaders of the Ukrainian community in the United States in New York. They discussed diplomatic efforts and work toward peace, engagement with U.S. President Donald Trump and his team, and the main challenges and tasks Ukraine faces right now. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that ending the war is the most important issue for our state so that we can preserve our nation and our historic, talented country. Ukraine is ready for an energy ceasefire. Russia has lost 45% of its oil refining capacity, which is a significant achievement by Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Any advance on the battlefield also comes at an enormous cost to Russia. The Head of State presented the Orders of Merit, III class; of Princess Olga, III class; and the award of the President of Ukraine – Ivan Mazepa Cross to: doctor Yevhen Shmorhun; clergyman Roman Kapran; philanthropists Yura Aroshidze, Maria Roma Hrytseliak, Natalia Kovalchuk, and Antonina Levchuk; civic activists Mykhailo Balahutrak, Nadia Komarnytska McConnell, and Nelia Melnychuk; American human rights advocate and philanthropist Robert Armstrong McConnell; and President of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America Natalia Pavlenko.

At the Sixth Summit of the International Crimea Platform in New York, 23-year-old Darya Fursova, who was born in Ukrainian Simferopol, addressed the participants. “Today, we have someone here with us who knows exactly what that means – Darya, a young woman from Crimea. She will tell you what it’s like – to live under occupation, to be intimidated, to face propaganda every day, which tries to change the way people think and feel, and still remain with Ukraine. Thank you so much. Thank you, Darya,” the President of Ukraine noted. Darya spoke about how the Russian occupation affects children growing up under occupation, shaping their views and their understanding of the world. “Our goal is to liberate Crimea. Because Crimea is not just a territory on a map. Crimea is people. Crimea is home. For me, Crimea is Simferopol. That is why it is difficult for me to hear talk of ‘territorial concessions.’ Behind these words, it is easy to see only lines on a map or territories that can be transferred from one side to another. But for people who were born and raised there, this is not territory. It is home!” she said. She called on the Summit participants to support young people from temporarily occupied Crimea, create opportunities for those who leave through educational exchanges, internships, grants, and other programs, prepare for the reintegration of Crimea, and firmly support Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

For the second time, the International Crimea Platform Summit was held in New York during the session of the UN General Assembly. The Sixth Summit of the International Crimea Platform brought together representatives of more than 60 countries. Among them were President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the leaders of Austria, Andorra, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czechia, Montenegro, and Croatia. The number of participants continues to grow. This time, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago took part in the Crimea Platform Summit for the first time. “It’s a constant confirmation that you truly respect the basic principles of normal life, of normal human life. Today, it almost sounds strange even to say the words ‘international law.’ And almost no one in the world believes in international law anymore. But we still do not want these words to lose their meaning completely,” the President of Ukraine said in his address to the Summit participants. Following the Sixth Summit of the International Crimea Platform, a final document was adopted reaffirming international solidarity with Ukraine and the readiness to continue joint efforts to restore its territorial integrity in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
