Michigan’s newly elected US Senator Abdul El-Sayed stands his ground on trans rights in ‘60 Minutes’ interview:
“I believe in rights. And even though somebody might use rights that you don’t understand, you never mean to use yourself, you still got to show up and fight for those rights. The minute you ascent to government taking anybody’s rights, whether you use them or you don’t, you are assenting to government taking everybody’s rights. I think we all have got to come together and, ‘No, no no. We are not going to allow government to take rights, because that’s what the Constitution protects.’”

Get tix for School Pictures @CherryLnTheatre! It’s a cute little show. I can’t make it bc my legs are too long for the seats and that theater. I’m also in Copenhagen for the next few weeks working on the Danish world premiere of one of my newest plays.

Named Man of the Year by GQ Germany,
Leo Neugebauer poses for the magazine’s cover and discusses how fame—and being regarded as the biggest star in athletics—has affected his private life
"It's really crazy how many people recognize me, especially in Germany. But even recently on vacation in Greece and even in the Maldives, I was recognized and approached. I hadn't expected that so far from Germany. Ultimately, though, that's the goal: I want to introduce people to track and field, and especially the decathlon, and promote the sport. That's also one of the reasons why I'm so active on social media. I'm very happy to see that it seems to be working."

Zohran Mamdani: “It’s not enough for us as Democrats to win power. We have to use that power to deliver change that Americans can feel in their wallets. When you look at these campaigns, if we want to speak about James Talarico, he campaigned on a vision for universal childcare. If you want to talk about Keisha Lance Bottoms, she campaigned on a vision of cutting red tape to build housing. If you want to talk about Jocelyn Benson, she campaigned on a moratorium for data centers. What I’m excited to see now is a recognition that the work is only just starting and this has to be delivered for working people across the country”

AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. You’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
And because you did it the first time you ever voted, you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Let’s just do it again.’
