New paper with @akib_kn and Linna Martén:
When war breaks out in the home country, what happens to those already living abroad? We study Ukrainians in Sweden after Russia’s 2022 invasion.
Main results seen in raw data: more mental health prescriptions and higher earnings.

Which cultural values drive global divides?
To understand inequality and polarization, we need to focus on where societies differ most—not where they’re becoming similar.
Our new study @NatureComms points to one factor above all: religion.

Very happy that our paper with Q. Ashraf, @GalorOded, B. Gershman and @HornungErik is forthcoming at @RevEconStudies. We propose the complementarity between physical capital and effective labor as a mechanism to explain the decline of coercive labor institutions.
Recently accepted to REStud, ``Structural Change, Elite Capitalism, and the Emergence of Labor Emancipation,'' from Ashraf, Cinnirella, Galor, Gershman and Hornung:

We've updated our paper that analyzes how changes in local social structures helped the US become a global innovation hub.
@JoHenrich has highlighted the key takeaways.
Below are some extra insights and shout-outs.

Happy that this work won the Austin Robinson Memorial Prize @EJ_RES!
Do economic markets bring the best or the worst of us? It seemed like a crazy idea to tackle this age-old question in the first year of the PhD, and I am honored that other people find it valuable today!
🏅Congratulations to @GAgneman @Lunduni_LUSEM and @estherbianc @goetheuni for winning @EJ_RES' 2023 #AustinRobinsonMemorial #Prize for ’Market Participation and Moral Decision-Making: Experimental Evidence from Greenland.’
