The family members of those who are credibly accused of abuse are often gravely impacted by such offences. This is what gaslighting them looks like. – at Carlisle, England

She is a survivor, she was raped and impregnated at 19 by a music producer and is now an advocate. This is how leaders act! They don’t call 12 year old victims liars!
The first way we give back to those impacted by abuse is to give them a space to reclaim their voice. @BirgitteUna @BenRMPWorley @BITLorgje

Whatever the outcome of this high profile trial, judges in future will have to take a harder line on defendants using social media channels to influence public opinion in this way
Russell Brand, on video with his wife Laura Gallacher, jokes about his rape and sexual assault trial.
Laura says “I got nervous before going to court the other day.” Russell replies jokingly “Why? What’s the problem?”
Laura: “The nerves were actually that I’m not used to interfacing with uh well they weren’t really necessarily aggressive but when you get out of a car and there are people that are taking a picture, paparazzi, press, reporters, onlookers, just even people stopping in the street and suddenly like oh all swept up into a moment. Because it’s a moment, there’s a moment where you get out the car and there’s people there and they’re taking pictures. And I was absolute—and you know what’s funny? So I was just explaining to Russell about my sort of fascination with storms because we have been watching this storm…”
If you were one of the women who have made disclosures about how you were raped and subjected to sexual violence by Russell Brand, what effect do you think this would have on your perception of Christianity? @BirgitteUna @BenRMPWorley @BITLorgje – at Thurstonfield, England
Laura Gallacher: “When you walked slowly into court that first time, you said you took it slowly and you felt god with you walking every step. Didn’t you?”
Russell Brand: “Yeah, by god’s grace something like never more than in the concentrated times of these challenges and trials have I more felt the presence of god, in the intensive care unit by our son, in uh midst of allegations walking into court I felt so close to god. So close.”

i’m glad she’s strong enough to handle it but i hate that you can never escape from csa. a grown man does the worst thing a person can do to you while you’re still a child and you have to spend the rest of your life dealing with it. it colors everything, forever.

When we do not understand an abuser's capacity for deceit, we make it easy for the offender to continue in deception and, sadly, often call it “grace.” If it lacks truth, then it is not grace.

It dishonors victims when we are silent about their experience or pretend it did not occur or was not important.

What happened was wrong.
I am damaged by it.
Justice is needed and so is care for my broken heart.

Whether or not Russell Brand is convicted for the charges he is facing, the case has brought a lot of men who deny that rape isn't rape out of the woodwork
These people aren't saying he didn't do what is reported - they worryingly won't accept that rape is wrong
We do need this many podcasts about the Russell Brand trial, if only to educate the general public about what it takes to come forward to the authorities to disclose rape and sexual abuse. An overwhelming majority of victims do not disclose what has happened to them because of the ordeal the women in this trial are being subjected to. Why didn't they report it sooner? This is why. @BirgitteUna @BenRMPWorley @BITLorgje
On the BBC's Russell Brand on Trial, Anoushka Mutanda-Dougherty gives a breathless daily commentary on the trial, which is expected to last eight weeks.
Minnie Stephenson lends an authoritative, let's-get-down-to-business vibe to Channel 4's Four The Record: Russell Brand on Trial.
Sky News have their own Russell Brand On Trial series, which finds room for details such as the 'basic' coffee in the courtroom canteen.
The Trial: Russell Brand, from the Daily Mail, has a paid for omnibus edition on Saturdays called Brand Breakdown, which rounds up 'highlights' from its daily episodes.
The presenters, Caroline Cheetham and Liz Hull, conjure an intimate atmosphere: like sitting with two seasoned court reporters in a bar.

We love and worship the system or our church more than we love and worship Jesus Christ. That is why we engage in complicity, cover-ups, silencing, name-calling, and threats. Or we offer up half-truths to see what is acceptable and what will stop the exposure.

You can tell what is most important to someone by what they protect most vigorously. Looking at Christendom today, I frequently see that when the church is threatened, its energy goes into protecting the system.

What I think is that this gives license for any young man to commit rape and or sexual assault in his youth and be absolved of it just because he’s grown older. It’s a disgrace.
Russell Brand's defence barrister Ian Winter KC has said that the court is 'evaluating the actions of that younger man, not the 51-year-old celebrity sitting in the dock today'
What is your opinion of this comment?

Non consensual sexual contact or rape is not seduction. The woman testified in court that she said no repeatedly. – at Thurstonfield, England
I am not an admirer of Russell Brand but the extraordinary public pillorying of him by our disgusting press and its slavish followers in the broadcast media is horrifying. I don't see how he can possibly get a fair trial. Most of what he is criticised for is not criminal. Seduction is not a crime. thetimes.com/uk/crime/articl…

Comedian Russell Brand has made his newfound Christianity a public part of his identity, even writing a book about how to become a Christian in 7 days. Now he's on trial in London, accused of raping & sexually assaulting 6 women.
One mark of authentic conversion is fully owning and repenting from past sins. If Brand did the heinous things he's accused of, he needs to come clean.
