Text I’ve sent into @BBCgmu that they have not read out in relation to their coverage of the UK budget …once again we see the myth of “the government is like a household” and “there’s no money”… the government does not create money for funding public services via taxes …

'Alarmism'. We're talking about a situation where Israel has occupied Southern Lebanon, displacing over 1 million people, destroying entire villages. This mission, with no UN mandate, is to 'stabilise' Lebanon, led by an EU that has sided w/ Israel throughout the genocide.
There’s a lot of alarmism about this planned Lebanon mission. I have not yet formed a view about it, but here is a summary of the military side of the mission which is still at the planning stage. “The military pillar will provide advisory support and training to strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces, for border security andmaritime security, including in land border surveillance and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, counter-smuggling and operational coordination.” That doesn’t sound too alarming but I’ll reserve judgement.

🧵Infrastructure minister's new transport proposals for Belfast are not that new: - Expanded pedestrian-priority streets/ new civic spine (what is pedestrian priority? Not pedestrianised?) - 20mph speed limit (good idea - taking cars out of the centre is better) NO TRAIN PLANS?

An incredible victory for Serbia's students, beating an entrenched 14-year right wing regime. No party machine, no big donors, just organizing. Pobeda! ✊🇷🇸
Celebrations erupted across Belgrade as Serbia's student-backed movement claimed a major victory over Aleksandar Vucic's long-standing ruling party. The result follows nearly two years of protests after a railway station collapse in Novi Sad killed 16 people in 2024.

The Triple Lock is the only think protecting our sovereignty. Without it there is no mechanism to stop the Govnt of the day sending our defence forces on EU/NATO military operations overseas. And we have ample evidence as to why we, the people, shouldn't trust F/FG on this.
👉 No other country in the world gives Trump 🇺🇸, Putin 🇷🇺 and Xi 🇨🇳 a veto over their own foreign policy. The Irish 'Triple Lock' is the opposite of national sovereignty. The world has drastically changed. Irish military neutrality remains steadfast but must adapt. .@sinnfeinireland seem to want Irish soldiers confined to their barracks. No young person wants to join such an army. Irish peacekeepers have a proud record around the world and are now needed more than ever. I welcome today's reform by the Irish parliament 🇮🇪.

Micheál Martin all over. Disingenuous arguments about 'maintaining our tradition of peacekeeping' when the removal of the Triple Lock ensures the opposite - overseas military operations outside the UN. Followed by a snide 'pro-Russia' remark launched at Sinn Féin.
The vast majority of people want Ireland to maintain our proud tradition of peacekeeping. Reforming the triple lock ensures our decisions on participation in peacekeeping missions are not dictated by a veto from Russia, China, or the United States.

🚨 NEW 🚨 Education Authority chief says typo prevented email from landing after finally admitting department requested £30k for football team MLA accuses Education Minister of trying to ‘invent a mechanism’ to hand money to Richhill AFC The head of the Education Authority (EA) has provided a belated explanation about the proposed allocation of £30,000 to a football team, claiming that an email from the Department of Education was “never received” due to a typo. It comes as Education Minister Paul Givan has been accused of trying to “invent a mechanism” to award £30,000 to Co Armagh football team, Richhill AFC. I revealed that Mr Givan wanted the EA to allocate £30,000 to Richhill AFC to cover a shortfall for a pitch estimated to cost £580,000 — a team that already received a grant of £500,000 from the Government. (Comment: The department and EA are attempting to prevent me from doing my job effectively. (No response from the department on this issue since July. It has ignored every query of mines since. This from a department whose Minister recently ordered officials to boycott his scrutiny committee. An order that is believed could be unlawful if he continues to uphold it. (EA with a one-line response to this back in July and no admission until now. (FoIs facing obstruction. I'd love to know if the department treats any other journalist with such contempt. Is it because of what I have exposed in the past 2 years? (Full story available online. Along with other stories in this investigation).
