I Grew Up In A Place Where When Rain Falls Snakes Came Out Of Walls And We Will Be Happy Because That’s Our Meat For Ẹba — Singer Magixx Recounts Growing Up In Poverty Singer Magixx has recounted the harsh living conditions he experienced growing up, revealing that his childhood neighbourhood was so impoverished that rats crawled over residents while they slept, while snakes occasionally emerged from the walls of houses. Speaking about his humble beginnings, the singer said, “I’m telling you, rats used to run on top of our legs. They sleep like this, right? They run on top of your leg.” He further described how residents encountered snakes whenever it rained, saying, “If rain fall, snake they come outside from people’s wall. And when snake they come outside, we they pee.” Recalling how bad things were, Magixx added, “See snake come outside, see we don’t see. Bro, snake taste like fish. I don’t know if you’ve eaten snake. It tastes like fish, bro.” The singer also disclosed that his mother sold local alcoholic drinks known as Paraga, while he helped people carry and sell jedi, a traditional Yoruba herbal concoction. Explaining his background, he said, “My mom sell Paraga. I can take you to our shop like she still has it. Although she doesn’t do the business anymore, but like still outside of our house.” He added, “I come from that. I used to help people carry, used to sell, you know, what they call jedi.” Reflecting on how far he has come from such difficult beginnings, Magixx expressed deep gratitude for his journey and the opportunities he now enjoys.
