"So, where exactly is Grosvenor Road? Commuters will tell you it's the road that ends at the barrier of the station car park, which it is, but the map shows it going up the ramp to the top deck and along the Worth Way, and yet it's supposed to be the access to St Margaret's Loop?

I inadvertently contradicted the late Michael Leppard. He wrote: "East Grinstead saw almost nothing of the 'Swing' riots." But newspaper archives do reveal a number of such incidents within 10 miles of the town. AI backs this up, but of course MJL had no access to this resource.
This morning's Early Birds detected by Merlin in the Loop: Long-tailed Tit, Wren, Goldcrest, Carrion Crow, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Robin, Magpie, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Jackdaw, Meadow Pipit and Blackbird. 🐦⬛
No chance of birdsong in St Margaret's Loop this evening, just the gale roaring and relentless raindrops beating like a manic drummer on the rattled roof and windows. Such a contrast to this morning's sunshine and 19 bird species recorded. I wonder where they're sheltering.🌧️🦉🍃
Watched the black and white film of "1984" a few days ago (read the book long ago). East Grinstead needs someone to write "1884" - a seminal year for our town in many ways. New railways, new councils... but the social unrest and negative effects on residents are rarely mentioned.
And 4 late "Early Birds" in the Loop this morning: Goldcrest, Starling, House Sparrow and Nuthatch, making 19 bird species so far today. ⏰🐦⬛
