Over 30 hours, brilliant young women turned challenges into ideas, ideas into solutions, and solutions into possibilities for the communities. The greatest part of the 2026 GirlCode Hackathon was seeing what happens when young women are given the space and opportunity to build.
Because empowering the next generation is about giving them the opportunity to shape it. Congratulations to all our GirlCoders, and to the teams whose ideas took the top spots.

After a night of building, testing and rethinking, the GirlCoders are entering the final stretch of the 2026 GirlCode Hackathon. 30 hours sounds like a long time, until you’re trying to turn an idea into something that works.
That shift, from having an idea to being able to articulate its value, is part of what makes experiences like this so powerful.

This years GirlCode Hackathon, themed “Building Africa’s Next Generation of AI-Powered Female Innovators,” kicks off today at Konza Technopolis.

For the next 30 hours, our participants will move from ideas to prototypes, working together to solve real-world challenges. Because digital inclusion isn’t only about having access to technology, it’s about having the skills, confidence and opportunity to use them to create.
