#CultureCare is to manifest our power of belief in our making.
“History teaches us that the power of belief should never be underestimated, neither in the present or in the past nor perhaps in the future as well. Its power is a constant, ever ready to be tapped, for good or for ill. Its power is a constant, always there in the profane as much as in the sacred, ever on the edge of surging, ever ready to be tapped, for good or for ill. ... Belief is the immortal soul of the imagination...Anything is Possible.”

“If you see a sick sister whom you can relieve, never fear losing your devotion; show compassion to her; if she is in pain, feel for it as if it were your own. ... If someone else is well spoken of, be more pleased than if it were yourself; this is easy enough, for if you were really humble it would vex you to be praised.” —Teresa of Ávila

#CultureCare is beauty of silence.
One of the great masterpieces of Japan. I mention this work in “Silence and Beauty” about Shusaku Endo’s “Silence”. @ivpress

“My mind has changed during the last twenty or thirty years… Poetry of many kinds… gave me great pleasure… Pictures gave me considerable, and music very great delight… But now for many years I cannot endure to read a line of poetry… Music generally sets me thinking too energetically on what I have been at work on, instead of giving me pleasure. I retain some taste for fine scenery, but it does not cause me the exquisite delight which it formerly did…” Charles Darwin

"Beauty and Justice: Creating a Life of Abundance and Courage" Available Now.
Makoto & Haejin Fujimura’s co-authored book on the relationship between beauty and justice is out now and available wherever good books are sold. Through stories from their global work in the arts, advocacy, and cultural renewal, the authors reveal that beauty isn’t a luxury — it’s essential to effective, lasting justice work. Beauty has the power to heal, and justice becomes most compelling when it is truly beautiful. @BrazosPress

Vincent, I quite confident, was the first artist to paint a portrait by simply depicting worn boots. Idea that a flower in a vase can depict the interior life, or even the grandeur of God, has been developed in Dutch tradition of exquisite still life paintings: landscape painters began to see the sacred in nature not just inside a church in 19th century. But Vincent managed to capture human nature, particular grace in these boots.
