Some of your customers have mobility needs and a working lifts is imperative.
We hope this post will receive a positive reply.

In for another busy day with Senator @TomClonan and a day working as a very junior senator!!! 😉
Loads to get stuck into today but first up is the defence committee. Sophia will be listening tentatively to the arguments being made then today its a topical discussion on the ongoing Scoliosis scandal.

A group of working disabled people has said that a cost of disability payment should be universal and non-means tested

Today Bernard spoke with @andreagilligan on @LunchtimeLiveNT about the ongoing issue of parking charges for people who have to attend hospital for their healthcare.
It’s something we have spoken about over the years as our community is already a community that struggles with poverty and any additional costs to us have a huge negative impact.
We believe a system can be easily introduced to waiver charges for those who are attending appointments and it would offer huge relief to people who are already under immense pressure.

On @RTERadio1 now the car park fees discussion and for years now we’ve called for what @walls2 is calling for an abolition of car parking fees for patients.

On 12 November 2025, families met Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and Tánaiste Simon Harris in good faith.
The minutes record:
• A public statutory inquiry, in principle a Tribunal of Inquiry.
• A mediator agreed by both sides.
• Children’s interests to be paramount.
What happened to those commitments?
🚩 No proposal for a Tribunal in principle was brought to Cabinet.
🚩 No Mediator - A facilitator was appointed without families’ agreement.
🚩 The scoping report identifies no children directly consulted.
🚩 Families’ request for further engagement was not honoured.
@SimonHarrisTD was in that room. He welcomed the agreement. He acknowledged trust was already low.
You broke your scoliosis waiting-time promise in 2017. Don’t break another.
Honour your word to families on 12 November 2025.
Right now @SocialJusticeI on @morningireland discussing the cost of living crisis for those people on lower incomes and pensions and it’s shameful that so many people, older and disabled, are living in gross poverty.
Information, information, information.
Is the lift working or is it out of service? If you go by the screens in stations you would say Drumcondra is working but online it says that it is out of service. Once again we are back to “lift roulette”.

Interestingly we spent two hours this morning online with a consultancy company who are in the process of building an app that will address this issue.
Information that is incorrect is as big a barrier to public transport as access is.
From what we have seen so far this app we hope will be a game changer for us and it cannot come quick enough.

In stations no information @IrishRail on screen but online two stations so far have out of order lifts.

The Minister for Health broke our trust at the very first step. @CarrollJennifer
On 12 November, families were told she would bring a memo to Government seeking agreement in principle to a Tribunal of Inquiry. @SimonHarrisTD
That is not what followed.
Instead, we face a proposed Commission of Investigation, largely conducted behind closed doors.
How can families have confidence in a process overseen by a Minister who has already failed to deliver what we understood she committed to - and when her own Department of Health will be subject to scrutiny.
We will not sit quietly while evidence is heard in private, only to be handed a potentially redacted report years later.
These are our children. Protect their identities, not the institutions that failed them. @CHI_Ireland
We want a Public Tribunal of Inquiry. @SBH_PAG

Today’s Goldliner 273 journey was a disgrace!
Trapped on bus for 30 mins due to faulty lift. Return journey had blocked wheelchair space and my unsecured wheelchair sliding around bends.
I've asked for years. Now I DEMAND low-floor buses. No more excuses!

They could double nurses pay and it still wouldn't compensate them for all the hard work they do. They haven't time to take a break or sit for 5 minutes!

These essential workers are vital to our society.
They provide education, healthcare, social care and above all else they help our children grow to become the very best young adults they can.
At the very least they deserve a decent living wage in this cost of living crisis! 🙌🏽
Without our Frontline services who provide us with so much help and support where would we all be?
Today if you can get out and show this support with your local school teachers, nurses, paramedics all front line workers.

10 years on, we remember Martin Naughton, a pioneering campaigner who transformed disability rights in Ireland. His legacy of independence, dignity, choice and inclusion lives on.

Can we stop saying “confined to a wheelchair” please.
Our chairs empower us and offer us freedoms that do not confine us.
The main thing that disables us is bad infrastructure and people’s attitudes.
