The photographer says 「カップル感の欠如」because something feels off about the vibe. It's not a truly "happy" moment, which Cloud believes it to be, because Aerith's hidden truth is clouding the overall feel of their date. Cloud is in lala land, and Aerith is dooming. It's not that hard to understand. The fact still stands, the photographer is looking for the best COUPLE, and after Cloud enters it with Aerith, and loses, Cloud asks the man 「どうして俺たちじゃないんだ？」"Why didn't you pick us?" Cloud is admitting he views Aerith and himself as a "couple". CIoti is done for.
