Busy old weekend but very enjoyable!
The excellent Stewart Lee in York on Friday, a phenomenal ‘Hamilton’ in Bradford on Saturday and my fastest 10k for 4 years (47.39) at #Dewsbury10k this morning!

Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve.
My colleague Sophia and I ran the #AbbeyDash in a little over 48 minutes today, raising funds for @stgemmashospice in memory of our @Springwell_Lds colleague Fred Francis who sadly passed away last month.
Our fundraising page is still open 🙂

#NationalPoetryDay is this Thursday! To celebrate, @MichaelRosenYes is releasing the recording of his brilliant Big 50 Year Show, for you to watch at home or show in class. It's about 1 hour long and totally free to watch 📚 youtu.be/yJfeIXxlUrI 📚 #poetry #teachingenglish
It’s been a joy creating this performance in recent weeks. There’s been so much work to pull the concept together but I’m excited to take the stage for a final time with @HuddsBrass tomorrow at the @RedAdmiral_MA contest to showcase what we’ve worked on. @4barsrest
That was far wetter than I was expecting!
Finished a touch past 1hr 51m; target was 1hr 53 so I’m pleased with that and the 13 minute improvement from 2019.
Mad how many turned out to support considering the rain.
Glad to finally make it round having got my place in Jan 2022!
Shoes selected, kit packed, we are now @greatnorthrun_ bound! For anyone at a loose end tomorrow you can track my progress on the Great Run app by searching for number 11084, if you’re watching on the telly look out for the Yorkshire rose!
All good things come to an end. I’m incredibly grateful for the 9 years I’ve had with this wonderful team.
My geeky dream was to conduct a band at an area contest, I ended up doing 8, winning 2 and qualifying for 3 nationals. Hopefully I’ll add to that again when the time’s right
Final Bell tolls at Huddersfield & Ripponden: Adam Bell has stepped down as Musical Director after nine great years at the Yorkshire band. dlvr.it/TCKbCX
Nice end to the first week of the holiday finding out I’ve passed the NPQSL course started way back in September 2022. Definitely the toughest assessment experience I’ve ever gone through. Delighted (but mainly relieved!)
Another cracking summer concert at @Springwell_Lds yesterday. The kids absolutely outdid themselves and had some fantastic support from a very healthy audience! No rest for the wicked… 4.30am start today to lead the band and represent Seaham Lodge at the Durham miners gala!

We were on BBC Breakfast!
Exciting news! Our Friday rehearsal was featured on BBC Breakfast this morning.
Check out this clip of our appearance.

Last week we ran our Whit Friday scratch band with 48 people joining us to visit 6 contests on the circuit, playing ‘Livin’ on a prayer’ as our road march to fit our 80s theme.
We met our target to avoid coming last anywhere and won ‘most entertaining band’ at Greenfield!
Hugely proud to be taking @HuddsBrass into the 2nd section this weekend following a second promotion in half a dozen years. Some excellent bands lining up with us including a few that were locking horns with the likes of Black Dyke, Grimethorpe and Brighouse not too long ago.
Count down to Huddersfield: The pride of Yorkshire banding will battle it out for the domestic bragging rights in Huddersfield this weekend and those all important qualification places to London and Cheltenham. dlvr.it/T3STqT
I’ve just signed the petition encouraging the council to reconsider the significant uplift to this community organisation’s annual rent. Bands like this are not profit making and struggle to get by each year as it is. Link here if you can support:

160 years of Royston music making under threat: A decision to raise their annual leasehold payment from £500 to over £7,000 could see a community brass band reach its last chord. dlvr.it/T2YWKv
14 players rocked up on Xmas Eve to play carols for @MartinHouseCH
They raised £343.25 so £1000 will be donated from our 4 events.
Special thanks to @reliance760 for leading the 2nd spot.
31 different players put parts in at at least one event. Thank you to every one of them!
Thank you also to @ego_bullshead for hosting us and looking after us so well once again!
2 down!
Thank you to the Sunday lunch club. After a quiet start the pub gradually filled up and so did the collection box as we raised another £179.35 for @MartinHouseCH
Our last event will be on Christmas Eve at @ego_bullshead starting at 7.30pm.
