Malaysiana

To be told I’m not Malaysian enough because I’m not a Malay or a Muslim. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough and should be grateful to be given a citizenship because I’m a minority. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough because part of my heritage, my ancestors came from China. To be told to leave the country because my heritage were migrants, although I’m mixed Bidayuh and fourth generation Malaysian. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough after 60 years of establishing the Federation of Malaysia. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough by stereotyping my skin, my look, my culture and my language. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough because I do not dress like you or speak like you. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough because the minorities do not assimilate the culture of the majority. To be told I’m not Malaysian enough because of your narrow minded politics of division. I’ve had enough. No matter what you say, it doesn’t make me less Malaysian. Ini Negaraku, inilah Tanahairku.
