This Wednesday I will be releasing episode 100 of the @SoundCentricMus podcast. 100? Like two zeros? We talkin triple digits? I can’t believe it’s been 3 years. Truly, it’s crazy to even think about. I was just a sophomore in college writing my music takes in a “Hip-Hop Heads @ OSU” GroupMe groupchat (to very little responses) when a stranger dmd me that he liked my music takes and wanted to see if I’d be interested in starting a podcast with him and a friend. That man was @SamuelSarfo_ Who knew that question would change my life. Doing the pod with Sam, I had finally found someone who shared this passion I had for music. It was so awesome forming this friendship, and even though he is now continuing his career in a different sector, I appreciate him for helping jump start this platform that means so dearly to me. Doing this podcast, I have had the opportunity to chat with some of my favorite artists, creators, mangers, etc. and get to continue talking about and learning about my passion. The fact that one person listens is enough for me to keep going. Even when in my own life I’ve had a lot of failures and have made career pivots, this podcast has been an outlet to keep my passion for music alive. So, if you’ve ever listened or commented on a single thing I’ve done, I appreciate you. And thank you to all the people who have come on the show @ElsienotElisee @WOWGR8ForReal @Kayvanmd @taylorcontarino @pleckham @JonDenton @KayoSouthside @AusarMusic @Xchrispatrick @DendeIsMe @andrewkelly747 @D2X__ @KoloGG @_QUAD @lim0music @imbenbeal @blvffnewyork @ykmyname @_giogenesis @wiseboyjeremy @kirti_pandeyy @FittsBryce @nikmoody_ @nascent_ @trevorspitta @ReubenVincent_ @gothamhiphop @NameIsMavi @raptalksk @SWAVAY @DonnaCWrites @TylerBlankCQCX @allthatjazzxx_ @stoicbegood @Volksgeist_ @Reed_Starks @KiranTheNomad @sethsutch @JoeyAich4 @johnwells__ @mitchmulacmr @MorganGoldMusic @erykahofficer Damn, I didn’t realize I’ve had that many people on lol. Also, thank you to @Ian_Schwartzman for supporting bts and being the only sponsor I’ve had for the pod thus far. So again, if you’ve ever tuned into anything I’ve made, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love to do this. Below is a little video I made to to reflect on this personal accomplishment ⬇️ See ya Wednesday ❤️

I love seeing rappers nerd out about other rappers It’s like watching KD talk about basketball
Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, The Creator & Earl Sweatshirt at an Eminem concert rapping every word. Three of the West Coast’s most respected lyricists showing love to one of their biggest influences. This footage is legendary.

This was very smart of him and his team. Y’all don’t have to start big right away, create the demand in my opinion. The process of seeing an artist in small venues to seeing their progress to arenas & stadiums is the journey we want to follow if you’re a real fan.
We talk a lot about artists underselling tours and booking agents picking the wrong size venues. Today, I’d like to highlight an artist who took the opposite approach. AZ Chike has sold out nearly HALF of his No Rest for the Wicked tour, electing for smaller venues (300-500 people) instead of overshooting the hype. He & his team opted for many dates in secondary cities along the West Coast (no doubt his largest market) but still found success in markets like ATL and DC. As someone who attends a ton of concerts, it makes me happy to see a tour hit its mark and now I can experience one of my favorite new artists in a packed venue (instead of a half empty larger venue) 🎯
