No supervision tree. The backstop is hardware: a watchdog armed on boot, disarmed just before sleep. Miss the window and the chip resets itself. Let it crash, taken all the way down to the metal.

We need a new Mr. Wizard. Someone who teaches kids by making them think their way through their learning using their own reasoning. He was an effective teacher who made kids excited about learning by letting them see they could do it.

I hear people always saying, “AI is so good at X but not Y.” The. When I talk to them they are experts in Y but know very little about X. Don’t fire your contract, Lawyer and decide the AI is going to look at all your contracts..
One of my favorite things about working in Elixir and on the BEAM is not having to write anything else. The BEAM just makes things so nice for a whole host of issues that other platforms force me into handling. Thanks to @TheErlef for ensuring the future.

It's been a busy year so far for the Launch Scout team, both personally and professionally. Between client projects, working on new internal tools, and new tiny Launch Scouts (three babies!), it's been all hands on deck. Taco Tuesday was much needed.
Hex v2.5 adds three layers of supply chain defense: security advisories in your terminal on mix deps.get, a release-age cooldown that withholds new versions until they’ve aged, and organization policies for filtered dependency fetching.

Anthropic has a narrow view of safety. Their actions in software engineering make me skeptical that they would act responsibly in positions of leadership in other domains.

If we want to build software factories (still an if for me), how can we build good ones?
I think that’s the biggest gap in how people use LLMs right now. And I don’t know about you, but I think it all comes down to verification. 👇
