I usually build productivity tools to help communities on Root ..... but I'm having a blast building a racing game ..... want to take a shot at beating my time?
Thanks again for everyone bringing suggestions and feedback to Root, the dev program and the apps - we read every single one.
Shipping even more improvements to the Welcome app's user-selectable roles management based on feedback - @rootappofficial users are the best
More great suggestions from Root users - Welcome app now gives community owners the ability to group self-assignable roles and make them single-select
Did you know @rootappofficial has developer badges?
Wait wait ... don't ask me for a badge, find out how to get one then come build some apps on Root!

Did you know the Root desktop client is now localized in 8 languages?
Better yet, did you know that Root apps can read the language from the client?
Apps on Root don't have to be simple, this a beautiful integration example (I didn't build this one so I get to gush about it)
A Minecraft Companion App that does it all…
Let it notify you when people join your Minecraft server, display a live map of your group’s Minecraft server, see who took your DIAMONDS… chat with your friends in your Minecraft server from Root and so much more!
Come try the command block app on Root today and join the Minecraft communities available now on Community Discovery!
Tens of thousands of users are joining us on Root, don’t be shy, come join us at rootapp.com and make new friends and new communities today!

I am super humbled by the positive support for the Welcome app on @rootappofficial (also check out that cool dev portal UI)
Thanks everyone and keep the feedback and feature requests coming!

my advice to first-time technical founders:
1. assume anyone can build your product today
2. so compete on details, not just features
3. pick a market people already pay for
4. ship every week, in public
5. charge before you feel ready
you'll want to ignore #5. don't.
The state of software in 2026 - someone launches something innovative, and 3 days later there are a dozen open source alternatives.
Here's a great video comparing open-source JEV alternatives (no affiliation)

Sometimes it's the little things - just added the ability to generate deep links to Suggestions boards in Root's Suggestions app (individual suggestions were already supported)
The first public community on @rootappofficial just hit 3000 members (ok they flew right by 3000).
Obviously I'm excited for Root .... but also, Root's community discovery feature is just an incredible opportunity to get eyes and members. Now is the time to start a community!
I'm finally reading @garyvee 's Day Trading Attention. Wow this feels like a giant book of cheat-codes for anyone running socials, marketing or GTM.
If you want a summary of the book - post more often!
P.S. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook is also still relevant imho
I just released a Welcome app for Root! I love that we can improve the first-touch experience in communities with apps. Deliver the rules, guidelines, enable users to self-select roles and quickly introduce themselves.
