The maximum sentence for publication offences is five years imprisonment. This will affect publishers and consumers globally. The offences are, in simple terms: 1. Strangulation or suffocation. (2 years for possession, 5 years for publication) 2. Penetrative sexual activity between people pretending to be related. (2 years for possession, 5 years for publication) 3. Sexual activity between two people where (a reasonable person would think) at least one person is, or is pretending to be, under sixteen. Yesterday adult content platform @iWantClips issued the following statement about the UK porn ban: "UK Content Access Changes - What You Need to Know In accordance with the UK’s Crime and Policing Act 2026, iWantClips is making changes to content access for UK users and content publishing for Artists located in the UK. The law takes effect on November 6, 2026, and restricts the publication and possession of specific categories of adult content in the UK. To stay compliant, iWantClips will remove access to the affected content for users in the UK ahead of this date, as well as the affected content itself from UK Artists’ stores. For many people, it is still easy to access harmful pornography online. "From 6 November, it will be illegal to possess or publish pornography showing strangulation or suffocation, sexual activity between certain relatives, or adults roleplaying as children under 16. “This isn’t about criminalising harmless sexual preferences. But porn can shape what people think a healthy relationship looks like, especially young people. Content that normalises, or even glorifies, violence against women is dangerous and can blur the line with what is acceptable in real life. “Young people especially deserve better examples of what healthy relationships look like.
