Chaired National Commission for Women (NCW) organised “Women of Wellness – A National Tribute to the Women Shaping India’s Beauty & Wellness Industry” on 5 November 2026 program at the NCW Auditorium. Organised in collaboration with ZEP Foundation, Beauty & Wellness Association of India (BWAI) and GLOW Foundation, the programme celebrated the contributions and achievements of women in the beauty and wellness sector. Through a dedicated technical session, participants were sensitised about relevant Government schemes, entrepreneurship support, skill development, capacity building and opportunities for business expansion, reinforcing pathways for greater recognition, empowerment and economic independence of women in the sector. #ncw #ncwindia

The National Commission for Women has launched another sensitive initiative. Its name is 'Sathi'! This support group is an effort to provide emotional and mental support to rape victims and their families. Our goal is to provide such support to the victims and their families during difficult times, where they can speak their minds, share their pain, and regain the courage to move forward in life. In the coming days, we will also strive to start various such support groups. On the occasion of this initiative, Pune's Shri and Smt. Shubham Kulkarni was specially present. A 65-year-old habitual offender raped and brutally murdered his three-year-old innocent daughter. This heart-wrenching incident had shaken the entire society. Pune Rural Police completed the investigation with utmost promptness and sentenced the accused to death in just 59 days. Despite going through this unbearable grief, the Kulkarni couple has established a foundation in memory of their late daughter. Through this, they are doing a commendable job of helping the victims and their families. It is highly inspiring that despite the tragedy that happened to their daughter, they are continuously striving to ensure that no other family has to go through such pain. Listening to the deep pain that still lives in their minds and experiences today was extremely distressing. At the same time, their resolve to turn that pain into a positive effort for society touched the heart deeply. On this occasion, Honoroble Chairperson Smt Vijaya Rahethkar ji elaborated the concept of 'Sathi' and its underlying sentiment. ◾The victim of a sexual crime or her family does not need only legal assistance, but also needs mental and emotional support equally. Our effort is to provide them with a safe and sensitive environment where they can speak their minds without any fear, hesitation, or embarrassment. ◾Empathy, not sympathy: We should not feel pity for women, but understand their pain. In sympathy, we feel sad seeing someone's suffering, but in empathy, we stand with them while feeling that pain. The victim deserves respect, not pity; they need companionship, not questions. We want to see them not as weak, but as brave and resilient women. ◾Sharing pain boosts morale. Often, a victim woman cannot express her feelings to anyone. She has fear, anger, sadness, and countless questions inside her. Through 'Sathi', she will meet people who will listen to her without any prejudice and understand her feelings. The purpose of 'Sathi' is not just to listen to pain, but to walk alongside in the journey of overcoming pain. The National Commission for Women, in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, organised a National Consultation on “Women in Sports: Governance, Safety and Policy Reforms”. The consultation focused on strengthening grassroots participation, ensuring a safe and dignified sporting environment, advancing women’s sports health, supporting career continuity, promoting equal opportunities and enhancing women’s leadership in sports governance. Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Smt. Raksha Khadse, joined the program as the Chief Guest. Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, Hon’ble Chairperson, NCW, chaired the consultation. Eminent sportspersons, awardees, presidents of sports federations, government officials and representatives of various institutions participated in the deliberations to develop actionable policy recommendations for a more inclusive, safe and equitable sporting ecosystem for women in India.

NCW ചെയർപേഴ്സൺ ശ്രീമതി വിജയ രാഹത്കർ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു .30-ലധികം സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും കേന്ദ്രഭരണ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള മുതിർന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ ഈ യോഗത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ദേശീയ വനിതാ കമ്മീഷൻ രാജ്യത്തുടനീളം നടത്തിയ വിവിധ കൂടിയാലോചനകളുടെയും ചർച്ചകളുടെയും അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ, വനിതാ തടവുകാരുടെ അവകാശങ്ങളും ജയിലുകളിലെ അവരുടെ അവസ്ഥകളും സംബന്ധിച്ച വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ നിരവധി പ്രധാന ശുപാർശകൾ കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാരിന് മുന്നിൽ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. ഈ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ സമഗ്രമായ ചർച്ചകൾ നടത്തുന്നതിനും ഫലപ്രദമായ ഒരു പ്രവർത്തന പദ്ധതി വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുമാണ് ഈ ദേശീയ യോഗം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഈ അവസരത്തിൽ, ദേശീയ വനിതാ കമ്മീഷൻ അഗമായ ശ്രീമതി അർച്ചന മിശ്ര, ഉത്തരാഖണ്ഡ് സംസ്ഥാന വനിതാ കമ്മീഷൻ ചെയർപേഴ്‌സൺ ശ്രീമതി കുസും കാണ്ട്വാൾ, ദേശീയ വനിതാ കമ്മീഷൻ ജോയിന്റ് സെക്രട്ടറി ശ്രീമതി അനിത ഷാ അകേല എന്നിവർ എനിക്കൊപ്പം വേദിയിൽ സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു. ശിക്ഷ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ ശേഷം ഒരു സ്ത്രീക്ക് ഒരു പുതിയ ജീവിതം ആരംഭിക്കാനുള്ള അവസരം ലഭിക്കണം. പുനഃസ്ഥാപന നീതിയുടെ യഥാർത്ഥ ആത്മാവാണിത്. അതിനുള്ള ചർച്ചകൾ പഠനങ്ങൾ നിയമ നിർമ്മാണങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ചർച്ച ചെയ്തു. 📍 Dehradun, Uttarakhand Today, a one-day National Consultation Meeting (DG Jail Conference) of senior prison officers from across the country was held in Dehradun. NCW Chairperson Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar inaugurated the meeting. Senior officers from over 30 states and union territories participated in the meeting. Based on various consultations and discussions held across the country, the National Commission for Women has submitted several key recommendations to the Union Government on the issues related to the rights of women prisoners and their conditions in prisons. This national meeting was organized to hold comprehensive discussions on these issues and develop an effective action plan. On this occasion, Smt. Archana Mishra, Chairperson, Smt. Kusum Khandwal, Chairperson, Uttarakhand State Commission for Women, and Smt. Anita Shah Akela, Joint Secretary, National Commission for Women were present on the dais along with me. A woman should get a chance to start a new life after completing her sentence. This is the true spirit of restorative justice.
