Festivities abound as we officially kicked-off the Volvo/Westport HPDI joint venture yesterday at the JV’s new home setting, Vancouver, Canada. We marked this momentous occasion with invited customers, key stakeholders and executives from both companies. Guests had the opportunity to see a Volvo FH internal combustion engine pilot truck in action rolling into @UBC's Smart Hydrogen Energy District (SHED) refueling station. The HPDI fuel system technology is already available in Volvo’s gas-powered trucks and offers a great transition alternative for fleets to reduce its climate impact today. “Today we celebrate the further validation of the HPDI technology with the establishment of the joint venture between Volvo and Westport to further accelerate the adoption of the HPDI system by the world’s global diesel-cycle engine manufacturers.” says Dan Sceli, Westport CEO and interim president of the JV. We welcome the recent agreement between European 🇪🇺 legislators regarding the lowering 📉 of CO2 emissions in the European Union’s heavy-duty road transport sector: 45 % by 2030, 65 % by 2035, and 90 % by 2040 as compared to a 2019 base line.
