We worked with @janetiwasa to realize our visualization vision with @jclandoni of how mitochondrial pearling redistributes mitochondrial DNA containing nucleoids. Super fun! Couldn’t have done any of this without support from @HFSP and @ERC_Research

So happy to see this study “in print”, being part of this discovery has been a delight and it’s great to hear different perspectives on it’s implications
In a new Science study, researchers describe how dynamic and reversible mitochondrial membrane constrictions, called “pearling,” spatially organize mtDNA molecules. The findings reveal a mechanistic link between mitochondrial membrane remodeling and mtDNA biology. 📄: scim.ag/4bW70JD #SciencePerspective: scim.ag/4mhEOV1

How do cells deal with damage to their DNA? Dr. Anjana Badrinarayanan, Infosys Prize 2025 laureate in Life Sciences, takes the stage to share her research on how cells find and fix breaks in DNA. Using microscopy and experiments that follow these processes as they happen, her research helps explain how cells keep their genetic material in order. Intricate lab work that answers some very basic and important questions about how life functions. #infosysprize #infosysprize2025 #lifesciences #cellbiology #dnarepair #winnerssymposium2025 #livefromthesymposium
