If every lab report could answer one question in plain English, which would help you most:
What does this marker measure?
Why might it be high or low?
What should I ask next?
Or how has it changed over time?
Reply with the one your reports never explain clearly.

Your cortisol result has a timestamp for a reason. Cortisol is normally highest in the morning and much lower later in the day, so the same number can mean something different at 8 a.m. versus 4 p.m. Stress, exercise and some medicines can also affect it.

Hi everyone! π
Iβm building Healmatics, a platform that explains bloodwork in plain English.
Itβs currently in beta, and Iβd love feedback from nurses.
Would this help your patients? What would you add or improve?

A hard workout can echo in your blood for days. Intense exercise can raise creatine kinase (CK), an enzyme released from stressed or damaged muscle.
Thatβs why some people are told to avoid intense exercise before a CK test. Mention recent workouts when reviewing the result.

HAVE
ARACHNOID
CYSTS?
I've started a research study on arachnoid cysts in Veterans. These are fluid-filled pockets on the brain. My preliminary finding is that I couldn't find a single published study comparing Veterans to non-Veterans, even though Veterans carry high rates of head injury and PTSD.
The full study is coming soon. Follow along.
