We're launching Early Access on November 6th because apparently deadlines exist. Is it done? No. Are we shipping it? Yes. There’s an open world now. Don’t ask how. Wishlist it. Or don’t. Chapter One launches either way. #jittergame

That’s too expensive I don’t think I’ll be able to afford that :(

Source Engine is like a well-tuned classic car—efficient, reliable, but not built for today’s highways. Unreal 5 is the flashy hypercar that looks amazing but needs a pit crew to run at 60fps. Honestly, both have their strengths, but maybe the real issue is devs chasing trends instead of optimizing what they’ve got. 🤷‍♂️
>Valve creates one of the best engines on the market >barely anyone uses it >instead devs make games with Unreal Slop 5 that run at 20fps

writing a game engine isn’t the same as writing a book—more like building a printing press before writing the book. Not everyone has the resources, time, or luxury to reinvent the wheel when engines like Unity and Unreal exist to democratize game development.
Write your own game engine. Authors don't download a story template for their books then see how much they can be creative within those limits, they start from scratch. So can you. It's not difficult(*), and it makes for more interesting games. (* compared to making a game)

[guy whose game engine is so infamously bad it took a billion dollar company to optimize it will enough to render a bunch of flatly lit cubes at a reasonable framerate voice] make your own game engine
If your goal is to actually finish and ship games, don't listen to people who gatekeep job titles on the basis of the tools you use.

This new Twitter ToS update is concerning to me. They've added lines allowing content posted to be used in AI training models specifically calling out allowed use in generative AI. The image on the left is the previous ToS from October 9th. The image on the right is the new ToS from October 16th. This platforms best use continues to be for shitposting.

Good. Games that require online connectivity to play are generally just licenses. The consumer should be made aware of this fact at point of sale. You do not own the game you own a license to the game. This is important when it comes to actioning bad actors within those multiplayer games. If someone cheats and is caught then they get banned. That ban is just the company revoking the license to continue accessing that online service. Inform people of what they are buying. Continue to ban people for cheating.

Arco has +150 reviews, 98% being positive ✨ Sadly, we are struggling to make people notice about the game itself, being considered already as a "hidden gem"💎 Our gameplay trailer shows how Arco works, and hopefully it will catch your eye 👀 A RT will help us A LOT🙏
