Sports Business Weekly is back on @SiriusXMNFL The Opening Drive. Today’s segment, Charles Davis, Solomon Wilcots, and I broke down: - An Agents duty to help get their players ready for the interview process of the NFL Scouting Combine - The 2026 NFL Salary Cap and future increases - Will any player “reset” their positional market in 2026 Free Agency? - Second Round Draft Picks and the continuing trend on fully guaranteed contracts.

Thank god for the “find my” feature on iPhones. Some lady took my AirPods out of my tray going through airport security. I had no idea (Houston TSA is a mess). I realized they were missing 3 minutes later. I immediately fire up find my app. Locate them on the other side of the airport. I follow, start pinging them. I hear the ping after 10 minutes of tracking them. Go directly up to the lady who was in front of me going through security. “Hi, can I have my AirPods back that you took?” Lady is denying she has them. I keep pinging them and am dumbfounded that she continues to deny while they are clearly making a sound every time I push play sound . This goes on for several minutes. People start taking notice and I sense the lady begin to panic. I put the pressure on by staring at her directly while still pinging them, while not saying a word. Now I’m sitting at my gate listening to music on my AirPods. No need to get security involved. Direct eye contact and pressure did the trick.

For got to add that Orlando made sure to sign every single autograph for the kids, took individual photos with each kid, and took several group photos. What a class act. My son is still talking about it.
Huge shoutout to @ZEUS__57 for stopping by and talking ball with the Anderson Wildcats tonight! You made their summer kickoff amazing! Thank you.

The best part of this experience was arguing an athlete’s position on liquidated damages with Justice Keller. She was amazing and offered counter arguments based on a school’s position and calculation of damages. Not everyday you get the chance to be in front of a Supreme Court Justice and argue your position passionately.
What an amazing experience today! This evening, I had the opportunity to present on Sports Law and Name, Image, and Likeness in front of several Judges and Kentucky Supreme Court Justice. There were so many great attorneys in attendance who wanted to learn as much about NIL as they can, to put themselves in the best position to help any athlete or their families who may come to them.

We were close on our projection on @SiriusXMNFL The Opening Drive’s Sports Business Weekly’s May 8th segment. We projected Rodgers to come in around $22M . We knew he would land well above the $18.5M Geno Smith number; and had him pegged right around the Malik Willis $22.5M AAV figure.
Compensation update: Aaron Rodgers is expected to sign a one-year deal worth up to $25 million, per sources. The deal is expected to include a base salary between $22 and $23 million, with up to a few million more in incentives. The deal still needs to be finalized and signed.

Another contract we predicted to be fully guaranteed on @SiriusXMNFL The Opening Drive’s Sports Business Weekly Segment back on April 29.
The #Falcons have signed Avieon Terrell to a fully guaranteed contract. The 48th overall pick is the lowest pick to receive a fully guaranteed contract in a deal negotiated by @DavidMulugheta of @AthletesFirst.

So awesome if true! Bengals in Madrid would be incredible. Madrid is an amazing city. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Madrid the same year Spain won the Wold Cup.
Breaking: The Bengals are headed overseas! Expect an announcement from the team within the next hour… Joe Burrow and the guys will be headed to Madrid to take on the Falcons. It’ll be either week six or week nine… But it is a done deal. Watch @WLWT News 5 beginning at 4pm

I have been hypercritical of the Cincinnati Bengals over the last 14 months, but must give them their deserved praise for what they have been willing and able to do the past two off-seasons collectively. They were able to lock up Tee Higgins and Mike Gesicki (along with Burrow and Chase), bring back the entire starting OL (1 year deal for Risner and ext for Brown Jr.). They gave Trey Hendrickson an increase (as painful as it was and I was one asking for a long term deal). They traded for one of the very best DTs in football and extended him to ensure they have him for 3 years (basically swapping Hendrickson for Lawrence), and upgrading the interior of the line in the process with Allen (and obviously Lawrence). They brought in young players to hopefully bolster the Edge in Mafe and Howell. They signed a high end safety to upper market money. The defensive makeover is impressive. In all, this was a very solid offseason for Cincinnati. Hopefully there is no contract drama (looking at pick 41 and the desire to continue the trend of fully guaranteed contracts for 2nd round picks).
“I think they have improved as much as any football team in the NFL this off-season…this is the most complete team that Joe Burrow has had since the Super Bowl run.” -Dan Orlovsky on the Bengals

🫡 Great chain by @andreperrotta13 breaking down upcoming offseason business decisions for the Cincinnati Bengals.

▪️and of course, signing the draft class. All deals will eventually get done, but it's worth noting to keep an eye on the Cashius Howell negotiations. He was pick #41 this year, and pick #40 last year (Saints' QB Tyler Shough) got all four years of his rookie deal fully GRTD. Howell's agent is likely going to want all four years fully GRTD to increase the number of 2nd round picks who get all four years (the 4th year) fully GRTD. So this could be a point of contention between agent and Club, which could lead to a prolonged negotiation and later signing, potentially. This issue was first astutely raised by @AgentJesseJames and it's worth noting and monitoring. Ultimately, a deal will get done in time for the regular season.
