People have suddenly remembered that decapitating memorials is outrageous. I didn't see this level of concern when a Confederate memorial was decapitated in Florida a few weeks ago. Maybe that criminal didn't get the list of which war memorials are allowed to be decapitated?

I feel like the 1980s loved black people in a way other decades did not. Michael Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Michael Jordan, Prince, Whitney, Janet, Magic, Oprah, LL, and yes, Cosby and OJ, just to name a few. They were LOVED.

So much of what is wrong with schools is downstream of graduation rates. A student can pass through years of schooling without having read a thing, solved a thing, or learned a damn thing, but they will get that diploma come hell or high water. Every standard and expectation has been twisted and downgraded to ensure this outcome, and we're reaping the rotten rewards of it right now. Have been for decades.
