The UK has done well with driving fossil fuels out of electricity year by year. But more than 90% of our heating still comes from fossil fuels - mainly fossil gas. To meet the UK climate goals ambitious policies are needed.

It’s wild that Aaron Swartz was aggressively prosecuted for scraping JSTOR articles. Meanwhile huge companies routinely scrape the public internet and sell it for $20/month and all is well. Aaron helped create RSS, Creative Commons, Markdown and a little site called Reddit (which now ironically sells its data to AI companies) - all by the age of 26. All he wanted was free and open access to information. Really makes you wonder the dent he’d have made on the world if he was still alive today.
11 years, 6 months. RIP my darling boy.

10000% this. Aaron was persecuted whilst AI just hoover data and sell it on. Where's the justice?

Apple rolled out Private Cloud Compute to the fanfare around Privacy, and now OpenAI has added the former chief of the NSA to its board of directors. Apple can’t continue to roll out Apple Intelligence with its optional link to ChatGPT when the NSA is the opposite of privacy

Very eye-opening to see who's leading the way on clean energy investment – and who's leading on fossil fuels China: Clean energy investment 3.7x fossil fuels Europe: 5.5x more in clean energy N America: Biggest investor in fossil fuels Middle East: 5.4x more on fossil fuels

The Post Office's compensation scheme is designed to minimise payouts. One postmaster received £15.75. That isn't a typo. I count nine ways the Post Office's HSS compensation scheme is rigged:

Speaking of food waste. Why are the fresh Lasagna sheets sold in packs of 10? What psycho uses 10 sheets to make a Lasagna? Got to be food waste there. 12 would be nice for 3 layers. Or if you really want to annoy us, you could try a prime number?!
Replying to @Nicola2019
We're working hard to combat food waste and we've found that removing the dates has encouraged customers to reduce this by trusting their own sense of a product still being good. There are still dates for the store to do stock checks though. I hope that this helps! Kim

This is what the world will look like over the next 100 years...if we fail to act. We have no time for business as usual. No time to waste, no planet B. #ActOnClimate #climateemergency #climate #energy #tech #solar #wind #GreenNewDeal

One reason we need dynamic local pricing for electricity- Scots people would get bonkers cheap stuff when it's windy & the people of England would not be paying wind farms to generate nothing. Energy-intensive industries could benefit from locating where elec is abundant & cheap
Replying to @BritainRemade
Scotland produces over 100% of its energy needs from cheap Green renewal with a Tidal Base load. Scots are forced to pay four times the cost of its own energies to fund the high cost of England imports from Eight Nations.

Good grief.
You hear it but you can't quite believe it. Johnson, a key player in the devastating Brexit heist that's causing massive disruption, political turmoil and hundreds of billions of pounds damage to the UK, states that after their conflict with Russia, Ukraine should join the EU!

Does this cause increased drag on the vehicles? It is basically a fossil fuel powered wind turbine?
Meet the roadside wind turbine turning traffic into energy #FutureBlink
Whiny Billionaire & the world's richest man says… “SpaceX cannot keep funding Ukraine Starlink” God forbid he don’t make any money out of this horrific situation. What an asshole. 😐 bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-cana…
Imagine being worth $200B and complaining about $20M. He could personally fund it for over 800 years! #TaxTheRich

No money from DoD, but several other countries, orgs & individuals are paying for ~11k/25k terminals (thanks!). SpaceX is losing ~$20M/month due to unpaid service & costs related to enhanced security measures for cyberwar defense, but we’ll keep doing it (sigh).
