Every video I make moves through the same steps: Idea → To Package → To Script → To Film → To Edit → To Review → To Upload → To Schedule → Live The one most people skip: To Package. Write 3 title ideas and 3 thumbnail ideas before you script. That's where the click is won.

Build log, week 1. Cut: an AI "auto-script" feature. It was fun to build and nobody would use it twice. Kept: the quality checklists for idea, title, thumbnail and hook. Least exciting part, most useful. 5 days to launch. Still fixing small stuff in the evenings. What did you cut from your own setup that you thought you needed?

I stopped redesigning every thumbnail from zero. Same pain every upload: open Canva, stare, move boxes around, still look “fine.” Now: pick the topic → pull a prompt from Notion → generate 2–3 variants → ship the clearest one. Free Notion prompt library if that’s useful: alan-notion.kit.com/yt-thumb…

Your channel needs a memory outside your head.

Title ideas, thumbnail ideas, the hook, the description, the tags. If they live in your head (or 4 apps), they're gone by video 10.

I give every video its own Notion page that holds all of it. Boring. It saves me every week.

Honest question for YouTubers with a job or kids: Where does your process break first? a) getting ideas b) titles/thumbnails c) actually recording d) after upload (tags, scheduling, repurposing) Mine was d for years.

If you post less than you planned, you're probably not lazy.

You're carrying invisible work: ideas in your head, half-finished titles, "I should check analytics." With a job and two kids, that invisible pile is what kills my consistency. Not motivation.

Write it down somewhere that holds it for you. For me that's one Notion board where every video idea gets a card, so my head doesn't have to.

I don't have designer hours after bedtime. Prompts in Notion + AI beat another 45-minute Canva spiral that still gets "looks okay." If you want the free dashboard: alan-notion.kit.com/yt-thumb… No drip of fake urgency. Just the tool.

Stop treating every video like a brand-new project. Most of my early videos started from zero: new doc, new checklist, new "where did I put that idea?"

What changed things for me wasn't a better tip. It was one board that every video moves through, step by step: Idea → To Package → To Script → To Film → To Edit → To Review → To Upload → To Schedule → Live.

The next video never starts from a blank page. It starts as a card that's already in the Idea column. More on how I set it up this week.

Small thing: I'm launching a Notion template on Fri 30 Oct. It's the workspace I use to run my YouTube channels around a job and two kids. Between now and then I'll share how it's built, what I cut, and what I'm unsure about. No hype, just the build.
