Cooler and damp this weekend in Maine (NOV 7/8); more in line with November standards for the state. It won't be a continuous rain either day. Both days will feature a general drying trend from SW to NE.
NOV 6, 4:35p | Rainy night ahead! Showers and maybe even a few rumbles of thunder will run up the coast and through Maine tonight. Some of this will contain pockets of heavy rain. Focus will be near the coast.
Unsettled & cooler weather will continue this weekend.
Maine's weather will turn more unsettled and cooler into the weekend.
FRI: A stationary boundary rests near the coast and rounds of rain will be running along it. That puts coastal Maine in line for passing showers, while locations away from the coast remain dry and mild.
SAT: A coastal low works in, bringing more of Maine into the rain equation. It won't rain all day, but there will be passing showers floating around. It'll also be cooler (low 50s).
SUN: Lingering showers in the AM, exiting in the aftn. Again, high temps stay in the low 50s.
Drought persists across Maine. Going back to September of 2025, precipitation deficits are running over a foot in many locations. Some spots are lacking around 2 ft. since last September.
A weather system currently over the Great Lakes will send a group of showers through Maine from west to east Thursday afternoon between 12p and 6p. A few tenths of an inch on the table. High temperatures still manage the 60s and low 70s.
Early November blow torch, Wednesday (NOV 4). High temperatures will run over 20° above average for the date. Highs in the 70s for many.
Won't have to many (if any) more of these kind of days before the Maine golf season succumbs to the Winter cold. Enjoy if you can get out!
Middle to lower 70s move in to much of Maine Wednesday, November 4. That's about 20 degrees above average for the time of year and near record territory in Portland and Bangor.
Election Day in Maine will feature more clouds with areas of light rain or drizzle; most likely in the northern half of the state. Highs in the 40s north, low 60s south, and 50s in between.
This is a first for me in fantasy football. This year, I have had three different quarterbacks score negative points.
OCT 30 | A weak geomagnetic storm interacting with Earth's atmosphere tonight may bring a low-end chance at spotting faint Northern Lights in Maine. This is a long shot, but worth a mention.
Creepy cool and scary sunshine for Halloween Day. Highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. A touch below average for the time of year. NW winds will be breezy through the early afternoon. Enjoy!
OCT 29, 9:05p | These are the spotty showers that will move from west to east through Maine overnight. Totals will be less than a tenth of an inch for those that do catch one. They're east of the state by 7/8a, Friday.
Halloween climatology for Portland and Bangor. Notably, several inches of snow was on the ground in 2011, although none fell on the 31st of that year.
60s Thursday and Friday, then back to the 50s for Halloween weekend. There is a chance for a brief pre-dawn shower Friday morning.
It'll be a chilly Halloween night in Maine this year. Temperatures fall through the 40s and into the 30s over the course of trick or treating time. If I were a ghost, I'd take add an extra sheet or two.
