ALT A “human evolution” meme showing four stages of a person progressing from a hunched, ape-like figure to an upright human. Each stage is covered with logos representing different eras of World of Warcraft. The earliest figure carries the logos for The Burning Crusade, and Wrath of the Lich King. The next addsCataclysm, Mists of Pandaria and Legion. The middle figure includes Warlords of Draenor, Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, Dragonflight, and Midnight, representing WoW’s continued expansion history. The final upright figure is dominated by a large “World of Warcraft Forever” logo. Instead of celebrating progress, the final human looks back toward the previous stages and says in a speech bubble, “GO BACK. WE FUCKED UP EVERYTHING.” The joke uses the classic evolution diagram to suggest that World of Warcraft has progressively changed or deteriorated over its many expansions, with the fully evolved future version regretting how far the game has come.
