Solidarity with The People's Forum in the face of these mounting attacks on our civil liberties! The people's movement will win!
TPF Responds To Congress: We won’t surrender our First Amendment rights or our civil liberties.
Yesterday, through our attorneys, The People’s Forum responded to House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, after they threatened to drag eight of our staff members to Washington for depositions if we didn’t comply with its demands.
This is an escalation of the same MAGA-led witch-hunt. In our response, our attorneys wrote: “Allowing a congressional committee to haul political activists and organizers into deposition rooms to grill them on domestic and foreign policy viewpoints and expression sets a dangerous precedent of state-sponsored intimidation that chills the right to free speech nationwide and infringes on core First Amendment protections.”
This fight isn’t only about The People’s Forum. It’s about whether anyone in this country can organize, educate, and speak out without being hauled before Congress for it. We will not be intimidated.
We’re in this fight together & we need your support now more than ever! Donate now at peoplesforum.org/fight

“We will not take one step back from our needs - the ministry and the government would do well to listen.”
Thousands of students took the streets in Athens on Wednesday under the slogan “From Greece to France,” demanding higher public education funding, affordable student housing, and more financial support for students struggling with a skyrocketing cost of living. Parallel student actions in Thessaloniki, Patras and other cities were joined by teachers and public-sector workers.
Greek Education Minister Sofia Zacharaki said ahead of Wednesday’s demonstrations that she acknowledges the financial pressure the country’s students face, and said plans are underway to expand and upgrade student housing facilities.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' government will face elections in mid-2027.

This is historic. The number of dockworkers set to go on strike on 30 October is expanding rapidly. Some 50 ports will now be shut down, not only on the Mediterranean, but also in Ireland, India and Mexico. The global movement against militarism and war is entering a new phase.

🇨🇺 Today, the word blockade means: doctors forced to perform surgery in the dark, babies dying in their incubators, and nurses having to manually pump ventilators. “Embargo is a euphemism. We call it a blockade…an economic war, a political war.” – Fidel Castro Ruz

"Access to food cannot be a privilege. It must be a right for all human beings"
In a message sent to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the US blockade that keeps Cuba from fully developing its food system and advocated for a more equal world order that helps countries fight hunger and poverty.
He noted that Cuba is developing "far-reaching changes" to ensure food security for its citizens, despite the blockade.

✊🏾60 years ago today, on October 15, 1966, the Black Panther Party was founded in Oakland, CA — born out of the need to fight the deep poverty, disenfranchisement and police violence that Black communities continued to face after the overturn of Jim Crow segregation.
The Panthers challenged the white supremacy and capitalist exploitation core to the U.S. with an organization that sought self-determination and power for oppressed people – by developing free breakfast programs, health clinics and liberation schools and posing a direct challenge to the racist criminal justice system.
Today, while Trump and the far-right wage renewed attacks on our civil liberties and the gains won out of the Black Power and Civil Rights Revolutions, attempting to destroy working class organizations in the same way COINTELRPO sought to "expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize" the Black Panther Party among others, we must recommit ourselves to the vision core to the Panthers – a radical transformation of society.
