You know this had to happen while I was unloading on the fly.
Things broke, beans got spilled and I never said a bad word.
One of those statements is a lie, you can likely figure it out for yourself.
Those MacDon heads are great rock pickers. It finds every one that we miss.
Canola planted Sept 2 seems to be doing okay.
I wish I would have planted the other field the same day as this, then maybe it wouldn't still be in the bag.
Maybe a short summer harvest coming for '27.
We snuck away from our regularly scheduled program to take a whirlwind tour of Alberta.
From Calgary to Jasper, up to the Ice Fields, then up to Fort Vermilion to visit friends.
Planned to help run a combine for a day or two, but ended up visiting most of the time due to rain.
If anyone has a kid heading off to U of G Ridgetown, or knows of someone heading there this fall who will be looking for some part time work to stay out of trouble, we will be looking for someone to run the grain cart occasionally.
We are located approximately 12km from campus.
Finally finished the canola tonight.
We didn't spray this field thinking it would spread the harvest out, but it sure made for some tough cutting.
Yields in the area seem to be a bit disappointing, but I did notice a lot of pods like these out there.
Insect damage?
Big thanks to the guys at Chatham Delta for finding our electrical issue so we could get the combine into the canola.
I'm sure we will pay handsomely for it, but we never would have found that one ourselves.

After losing a friend unexpectedly the other day, my heart hasn't been in it for the last stretch, but we pushed on.
Been one hell of a week.
Time for a crop tour and maybe a beverage.

Next winter's restoration project came early.

This Aggie we hired to help out after school seems to be fitting into this circus just fine.
Carter is doing a fine job with the cart.
Found some damn good beans along the way.
Today was a good day 👍
We joined the harvest party today.
Also got this idea off of the internet, so I had Kent Fab bend it out of stainless for me, and it has already saved my ass (and the combine's) a few times by keeping rocks out of it.
