Three years ago, we lost my brother, Thomas, to substance use, so the holiday season can be tough for our family.
One of the hardest parts of losing Thomas was his tremendous potential.

We’ve been through a lot together.
It hasn’t been easy, but with grit and determination, we’ve got tough things done.
But there’s more work to do.
With two more years as governor, and support from the legislature, I know Vermont can thrive.
With more good jobs and more families, we’ll have more kids in our schools, and a stronger economy.
To get there, we need to build more homes, strengthen schools and hospitals, lower healthcare costs, and revitalize small businesses, rural communities, and family farms.
And we’ve got REAL plans to do it.
The work will be hard, and Washington will make it harder.
You have my word, I’ll roll up my sleeves like I’ve done my entire life to make it happen, with new ideas, and new opportunities for our kids, families, and future.

A profile of a candidate - whom people know very little about - for the *top* state job that (not kidding) tells you she “walks on water” but doesn’t tell you (and apparently didn’t ask) a *single* policy or plan specific is not journalism. It’s PR spin. Vermonters deserve better

Affordability is on the ballot....Period. This November, much more is on the line for Vermont. Governor Scott voiced his support for Ashley Bartley (running for the Vermont State Senate to represent the towns of Essex, Fairfax, Milton, and Westford) Senate run, praising her work in the legislature and her focus on making Vermont more affordable. We need you to vote with that in mind.

Supporting young people in Vermont means investing in the future of our whole state. When young Vermonters can learn, grow, find good jobs, and build lives here, our communities become stronger for everyone. #Vermont #SupportYoungPeople #VermontFuture

“We need more taxpayers, not more taxes.” Governor Scott says his business experience taught him that spending more doesn’t automatically solve a problem. His approach: improve how systems work, make them more efficient, and grow Vermont’s tax base.

Vermont has faced challenges—and together, we’ve made progress. Governor Scott shares his plan to build more homes, strengthen schools and hospitals, lower costs, and help families and small businesses thrive. With steady leadership and a commitment to working across party lines, he’s focused on a stronger, more affordable future for every Vermonter.

I kicked today off with a meeting with my extended cabinet team, which we do regularly. They’re leaders and subject matter experts across state government who oversee programs, develop and implement policy proposals to keep state government running and make sure Vermonters are getting the services they need.
This time of year, their work is often criticized, so today I took the opportunity to thank them for all they do. I know Vermonters are better off because of the dedication and hard work of these public servants and their teams.

“For what we’re paying, we should be number one. And we’re not.”
Vermont’s education spending should deliver strong opportunities for every student. Governor Scott points to differences in course offerings between rural schools and larger districts.

Today, Governor Scott visited the Middlebury Car Show and the tractor parade in East Charlotte, where he got behind the wheel of a borrowed John Deere. Recognize anyone else you might know?

Washington endorsements….or the trust of someone who’s known your record for years? Governor Scott says Bernie Sanders has never endorsed him. But Ron Hackett of Hackett’s Orchard in South Hero, a family business for nearly six decades, stopped his tractor the day before his 91st birthday to say Scott has his family’s support.
“Ron Hackett means more to me than an endorsement from someone from Congress.”

Governor Scott speaks frankly about rising rents, property taxes, education spending, and declining student enrollment. He argues that Vermont needs to rethink its educational system to better serve students while keeping costs manageable for taxpayers. If you agree, more has to be done, please SHARE this post! We would appreciate your support on Election Day!

The answer to the high cost of housing, health care, energy and property taxes is not…. higher taxes.
We need to LOWER the tax burden for Vermonters, and implement reforms that will drive down the cost of housing, give Vermonters more, lower cost health care options, and remove special interest driven mandates that are raising utility bills. I’ve put forward plans to do all of this, and next year, if Vermonters send me a more balanced legislature, we’ll be able to get it done.

Governor Scott talks with a former educator about housing costs, why young people leave, and how a lack of housing makes it harder for businesses to find workers.
He calls for building more housing and finding ways to make Vermont more affordable without relying on higher taxes.

Every new tax or fee comes out of a Vermonter’s pocket. Governor Scott reflects on his efforts to make Vermont more affordable. He has used his veto to push back on bills he believes would raise taxes, increase fees, or add costs Vermonters cannot afford.
The goal of those vetoes is to protect household budgets and push for solutions that meet Vermont’s needs without asking people to keep paying more.
What’s one cost you’d like the Governor to focus on? 👇

This is exactly why we need to follow through with bold education and property tax reform. The status quo is leading to unacceptable property tax increases, while results decline. It also means we have less money to invest in roads, bridges and other services that Vermonters depend on.
If we follow through, and dare to do things differently, we can reduce property taxes and increase opportunities for our kids.
Inaction is simply not an option.

Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band visited Vermont last week and put on an incredible show for service members, veterans, and their families with an opening act from the Vermont National Guard band! Vermont was the 49th stop on the band's 50-state tour. Their mission is simple, to give military members and their families an uplifting show to build community and camaraderie among them.
It’s clear they’re making a positive impact, and it was a great night to remind our service members how much we appreciate their willingness to step up and serve. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Lawmakers gave VHIP “base funding,” set at $4 million, which means administrators can bank on yearly financing for the foreseeable future.
