Is there an election today by any chance?! The door has not stopped all day and I’ve never had so many leaflets! Good luck to the candidates, I’ve voted now! #Brighton #RingDoorbellOnDoNotDisturb #Elections2024

One of the most thought-provoking stories of those who lived as children in the Gressenhall Workhouse. In this case, we find out some of what happened afterwards. I’ve posted about this before, but it deserves a second outing today.

So great to see the lovely Jennifer again here, rightly celebrating this amazing achievement. I sat opposite her for a year in the office 15-20 years ago and am one of so many that benefitted from her expertise, kindness and pragmatism. Congrats Jennifer!
At the end of #SocialWorkWeek2024 - celebrating 50 years in social work by the powerhouse that is Jennifer. She is the embodiment of what we aspire to - compassionate; kind; committed. ⁦@BrightonHoveCC⁩ ⁦@TStibbs⁩ ⁦@VirtualSch_BHCC⁩ youtu.be/_mpBUNK2RJk?feature…

I’m so sorry to see this. BYC undoubtedly had funding and, at times, ethical challenges. But it was committed to the value of young people’s direct voices in policy development. Thank you BYC, especially those that served without personal benefit. I hope to see the gap filled.
The British Youth Council is sad to announce its permanent closure after more than 75 years of championing the voices of young people. bit.ly/3Pvpyoe

Time for me to switch off for Christmas. For those celebrating, have a great Christmas. For those not, have a lovely break, if you can. For those who struggle at this time of year, it gets better. Happy Christmas 🎄

This puddle at Grantham, hilariously referred to as ‘a flood’ by @LNER, is blocking me and thousands of other people from as far north as Newcastle, trying to get to London. No-one can say how long the delays will be, but the best current guess is over four hours. #broken

Thanks that’s the best info I’ve had so far: last update from @LNER was ‘we are not receiving any information at all about what is happening to this train’. So far, it has taken two hours to travel from York to north of Doncaster!

What a brilliant, accessible and clear overview of what works, what can go wrong and why binary constructs of ‘childhood’ and ‘adulthood’ fail those who journey between.
