I’m quoted in the AP! Read more in my @UCONNCEPARE brief with @sam_kamin about why retaining kids is a bad idea, but high dosage tutoring, culturally responsive pedagogy, socio-emotional support, and wraparound services are great ideas to support students. education.uconn.edu/2021/10/…
As some children struggled to keep up with school early during the COVID-19 pandemic, many states saw increases in the number of students held back. Twenty-four of the 28 states that gave data for the most recent academic year saw increases, @AP found. apnews.com/article/covid-hea…

I defended my dissertation today, Investigating Logics of Educational Technology and their Role in Educational Change. I feel proud, excited, relieved, and grateful.
After a long nap and some time in front of my television, next stop for Dr. Lamb is a postdoc at UConn continuing to ask questions about change and schools.
A final note on partnership. I am grateful most of all for the support, love, genius, and perspective of my life partner, thought partner, and co-parent, my husband @sam_kamin. And of course our boys, James the baby and Bucatini the dog, our best and most joyful work yet.

Does grade #retention have any long-term benefits for student achievement or positive outcomes for students &/or districts? Doctoral students @sam_kamin & @Alexjlamb say no. Check out their latest @UCONNCEPARE rapid research brief: education.uconn.edu/2021/10/…

New research alert! 🚨 Thrilled to share my new piece in JEA with @jennieweiner - Technology as Infrastructure for Change. We use an infrastructure lens to understand how ed tech can support system-level changes for school districts. @UConnNeag #teamedlr emerald.com/insight/content/…
We find these leaders see 1:1 tech as part of the physical, cultural, instructional, and leadership infrastructures of the district.
