I was talking to my younger sister and I said one word in the dialect then she paused for some seconds then goes “Ali why are you speaking the dialect to me?’ She didn’t even understand what I had said. Then it clicked.

I usually used words from our dialect only when i was talking to my father. It wasn’t fluent but I always tried and he’d correct me. I’m not sure I’ll survive my life without him. 💔
