They think a great deal of their position; don't let one of them ever persuade you he doesn't, for if you were to proceed on that basis you'd be pulled up very short." a character in Henry James' The Portrait of A Lady, describing the "radicalism" of the upper classes.

It's weird to me that there are several french actresses who are considered very beautiful and yes, they are, but they all have this very specific mouth.

I'm struggling to figure out who this plastic surgery is for. Because I totally agree people should do whatever they want. But i'm not understanding why they want to look objectively worse.

Today we learned that it was a 28-year-old DOGE operative who gutted USAID, and HR had no record of him working there. Totally normal stuff.

Oh, that's Jennifer Lawrence with her distinct and instantly recognisable facial features removed with plastic surgery.

It fascinates me how many people think at some level it's all right to be cruel to children who are annoying.

Cool. I’m declaring myself the President of the United States and will be ruling the country from a couch in Sheboygan.
JUST IN: Flavio Bolsonaro declares himself the President of Brazil and says he will rule the country from Miami

It's interesting to me that I can think of several American shows in which there are two women and one is supposed to be the hot one and the difference is always that the hot one is tall and blonde and the not hot one is short and brunette.

There's this weird kind of thing that comes from both the nominal left and right on here that seems to be against women being sexually exploited. But if you examine it closely, the underlying premise is that no woman ever does anything sexual of her own free will.

I do, in some ways, have a prevailing "type" when it comes to women, but that type of woman is one that I'm very unlikely to ever encounter in such a context, and if I did would be very unlikely to be attracted to me.

I have several chronic illnesses, and it's funny. It's the ones that people seem to think are the least a significant that have actually had the most impact on my life.

AI bros talk like skills are some finite resource that's being kept in an impenetrable fortress by an evil baron and you have to be related to him to gain access.
Here’s something the anti-AI crowd won’t like: Some people with absolutely no artistic background are now creating things they could only dream about five years ago. Is the problem really AI, or that creativity is no longer reserved for a select few?

Students actually *want* to be challenged and to read good and interesting things? It's actually *universities* letting them down with cost-cutting, fluff and "meet them where they are" nonsense? I'm shocked, I say! Shocked!

Americans are immune to propoganda, they just on average think 21% of Americans are trans and 27% are Muslim for no real reason
I never want to hear about how Americans are propagandized again. We learn about the founding fathers' slaves in middle school, meanwhile grown ass adults in China think Mao was under democratic constraints somehow.
